Repubblica: Maldini will discuss transfer budget in meeting with RedBird owner

By Isak Möller -

RedBird Capital, the US-based investment firm are one step away from securing the takeover of AC Milan. In fact, a meeting between Gerry Cardinale and Paolo Maldini has been scheduled, a report claims.

Following the Scudetto success, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara want to reinforce the team this summer to take an even further leap quality-wise. However, it hinges on the project of the new owners RedBird Capital.

According to La Repubblica (via MilanNews), a meeting between Cardinale and Maldini has been scheduled, during which the plan for the future will be discussed. The director will, above all, talk about the budget for the transfer window to understand if a few investments can be made.

Next week, Cardinale will sign the preliminary contract and unless anything spectacular happens, RedBird will be the new owners of Milan. Elliott Management will keep a minority stake in the club, it should be noted.

  1. Can’t wait for the dissapointment. How Real Madrid is ran is the way to go, US investors that are looking for profit- not. Sadly that seems to be the only option, sucking money out of the club.

    1. Yeah. US owned Liverpool was such a pathetic bunch of losers yesterday. I mean… How on Earth they got into the final anyway with their greedy American owners?!

      1. It was said here million times. US owner has nothing with Liverpool succes. I think, average club can be same as Liverpool with Klopp on their bench. You will see Liverpool when Klopp leave. Bring Klopp to Lazio, Sampdoria, and in 3 years, they will play CL final.

      2. “Yeah. US owned Liverpool was such a pathetic bunch of losers yesterday. I mean… How on Earth they got into the final anyway with their greedy American owners?!”

Haha fully agree…. but people simply love to cry and complain…

        1. How didn’t Manchester United go into the final or CL at all? You are using only one example and that is it. Liverpool has Klopp that literally pick the players they buy. Before Klopp they were shit. 5 years of literally nothing. And that is the club you are pointing me to? They had to get lucky with a coach that also picks players they sign and has that drive just to get the club anywhere.

      3. You picked that one club. How about Arsenal or United? Or the fact that Liverpool was crap for 5 years under US ownership and that only changed because they got lucky with Klopp who actually got the club up with his approval of signings that made a difference? If we’ll buy the new Salah for 30M and get lucky with similar transfers ok, but you think that is realistic to compete with Man City, PSG, Real Madrid etc? 😀 They can buy any of our players tomorrow, maybe only Tonali and Calabria would 100% stay.

    2. What money was sucked out of the club? They have put in over $300 million of the fund’s money. Do you even think before you post or is it just thoughtless whining?

      1. Exactly, Wcsg! It’s really amazing how people love to whine and whine indefinitely these days… it’s kind of like an addiction!

      2. You are talking about an investment fund that got the club in bankcrupcy, when it was obviously impossible to take money out and their goal was to sell to make money and I am speaking about the new owners and how US owners usually act in sports. Do you even have a brain? It wasn’t hard to understand.

  2. I would no worry to much about new signings ..
It’s about the team we have..if we can keep this team ,
then we can still be serious title challengers next season ….
The real steal this year was Olivier Giroud..
He definitely seems to have the ability to score in the most important matches ..This guy is a technical genius…He can still play a big part next season ,make no mistake about that ..We have also signed Orgi .
I also said that Oliver Girouds signing would bring us the scuddeto and we have done that ..What a team we have ..What great management..
