Repubblica: Milan agree terms with Lille defender – work ongoing to bridge €7m gap

AC Milan have agreed personal terms with Lille’s Tiago Santos over a potential move during the summer mercato, according to a report.

We were the first to report Santos’ name back in April, stating that the management are looking for a new right-sided defender and that the Portuguese was seen as an ideal profile due to his age and potential.

Since then, confirmations regarding out story have followed from various sources, such as yesterday’s report from Calciomercato.com which claimed that the arrival Paulo Fonseca as the new head coach will accelerate things and that a bid of €10m plus bonuses is ready.

Now, La Repubblica are claiming that the Milan management have agreed terms with Santos over a prospective contract, which he would of course sign if a full agreement was reached between the clubs over a transfer fee.

Geoffrey Moncada and his team are wanting to close the deal for around €8m but Lille are asking for €15m and at the moment they are showing no signs of dropping that asking price.

Nonetheless, Santos has already chosen: he wants to join the Rossoneri. The 21-year-old’s entourage are working on the operation and there will be more talks in the coming days with the hopes of striking a meeting point.
