Repubblica: Milan consider attempt to hire the Netherlands’ chief physiotherapist

By Oliver Fisher -

It is injuries which are above all causing the most concern inside the walls of Casa Milan, and a potential idea has emerged to try remedy things.

According to this morning’s edition of La Repubblica (via MilanNews), the club’s hierarchy believe that the factor which is contributing to the inconsistent results is primarily the countless injury problems that the team have endured.

The club have pointed the finger at Stefano Pioli’s athletic preparation and staff, which could now see some changes to bring in some fresh ideas and hopefully contribute to a turnaround after repeated crises over the past few seasons.

The current Rossoneri trainers could be at risk of being removed from their positions, with the club interested in the historic head of physiotherapists of the Dutch national team, Leo Echteld.

Echteld and Wouter Post – two physiotherapy students – devised a strategy and developed a philosophy in the field of health and sports and came up with the name Fysiomed back in 1993. Years later Fysiomed had grown into a company with 80+ people, and Echteld was making a name for himelf.

The 54-year-old has worked closely with Ajax in the past as well as the Netherlands, and he is even reported to have given ‘secret treatment’ to Paul Pogba before Manchester United’s Europa League final in 2017.

  1. Could possibly be the best “buy” in January and beyond!!! Even the management is disinterested to buy more midfielders or forwards (if Jovic continues to grow). Otherwise, these new players will only end up damaged by Pioli and Osti.
