Repubblica: ‘A power war’ at Milan – Ibrahimovic vs. the management

AC Milan may have to make a bold decision in the upcoming days about the future of Paulo Fonseca, but this could bring a worrying issue – a ‘power war’ in the Rossoneri’s management.

With everything going on at Milan currently, there are things much less needed than a power war, but it seems that could be on the cards for the Rossoneri, according to a report from Repubblica (via Calciomercato.com).

The report suggests that there is an internal divide in the management, with none of them in agreement about who comes in to replace Fonseca if a decision is made to relieve him of his head coach duties.

There have already been issues with power dynamics this season with the current head coach and the Swede not on brilliant terms after three incidents, and this has already been a cause for concern. Additionally, there was the ‘boss’ debacle which happened very publically.

Now, Geoffrey Moncada, Giorgio Furlani and Ibra must make a decision about the current coach and hire a coach as a united front, as opposed to one leading party and two in agreeance. The report goes on to suggest that the choice of the former striker is Igor Tudor, whereas Maurizio Sarri and Edin Terzic are also liked.

  1. This is the problem with this managment, none of them are in agreement and it really showed with the strategy they used last market as there was literally no plan.. Back when we had Maldini and Massara they were always in agreement.. It goes to show why this managment is always at the centre of blaming

    1. Anyone outside Klopp (never gonna actually happen), Tuchel, Sarri, Xavi and Sergio shouldn’t be even discussed…

It’s so clear who the actual coaches are and for some reason in the last 10-15 years only brought inexperienced/low-level coaches… the worst part is that they are actually surprised by their mistakes…

    2. What did u expect? Thats what happens when they hire someone without prior experience for a big club like milan. Same goes for furlani and moncada.

  2. We must stress that Ibrahimovic was 100% behind the decision to bring Fonseca in. We considered hiring this coach in the first place all because of Ibrahimovic.

  3. What would be best if they got rid of ALL THE PEOPLE FROM THE PICTURE and got some actual football professionals with experience and proven success in their past jobs. Not a guy that was working in bank until 3 years ago, Ibrahimovic low IQ football player that thinks him having it in legs means that he has it in the head and Moncada the scout. These people should not be part of any management in football, and definitely not of a club like AC Milan. In 2 seasons Juventus will be ahead of us by double and last season they were falling apart. But they have proper people managing the club, they didn’t bring Nedved or Del Piero to talk crap in the media and buy players.

    1. I said few times: Ibrahimovic is intelectualy limited for this job. He is egocentric. He can not work with other people. He has conflict caracter. But, this is fault of person who hired him. You can not compare him with Maldini. Paolo is different dimension from this clown.

  4. The amount of clueless people in every section of sempremilan’s article lately is really baffling. I would only account 10% opinions are realistic and 90% are mostly trash.
I’m always neutral and everyone blaming Ibra is totally clueless. Imagine yourself just started working in a company, would you disrespect your “colleagues”? No matter how big you think your are.
“Ibra’s the one who decides to bring in Fonseca”. No. Who Ibra wanted? Conte. Who didn’t agree? Furlani..
The market was mostly decided by Ibra you guys said. He took the blame because he’s the one would always be in the public with the interviews. Did he decided the market? No. Who else that has been doing shit scouting this past few years? Moncada. Like Ibra said, there’s no need to spend much. Why? Use your logic, if Moncada already decide to “buy” the player which by profile he thinks has the best talent with cost ratio, not by what the coach wants, and since Ibra’s “power” is still limited why bother spending much on some below average players? Those who said Ibra should go, the one that have should left long time ago is always Moncada. While team like Atalanta excels at finding Italian talents with the right price, shame for Milan couldn’t even have a proper Italian majority squad. Who sold Tonali? You guess. Furlani. I would have preferred they sell both Theo and Leao. Build a midfield and defense of Italian players. I don’t have any complains so far with Morata and Abraham.
We could have lots of budget, keep CDK, bring in De Zerbi. Italian coach where, still young and could be out own Sir Alex if we have faith in him. He has Milan blood.
Things happened, so for now just find one interim manager that could stabilize the ship.
My hopes for the future, get rid of Moncada, sell Theo and Leao, bring in De Zerbi.

    1. “Imagine yourself just started working in a company, would you disrespect your “colleagues”? No matter how big you think your are”.. Ibra did the opposite lol

  5. I can already imagine if this management remains how the next coaches will struggle and listen all day these egos above him. Not a work place where I would want to work and definitely no coach would want to come unless they want to grab some fast cash then go after few unsuccesful matches.

This team will end up pay multiple coaches during the season so my hopes are low. The management should go then bring someone who can manage the players then give them time and not push out if things does not go well.

  6. Rumors say that Zlatan “fired” Abate cause he was not playing his son in the youth team. Thats the type of person we have now leading the club lol. Compare that with Maldini who never asked or forced coaches to play Daniel just cause he was his son. We went from profesionals to this.

  7. The sad reality is that in current condition we aren’t even fit for a top coach. We need a transition coach to get us back on our feet and THEN an elite coach to truly elevate us.

But that is too organized of a plan for the current management structure. Disorganization starts at the top: replace the structure so that the new one brings order, cohesion and defined roles.

That starts with a Director of Sport. Then re-evaluate Moncada and absolutely replace Furlani with a CEO who has a deep understanding of the sport and the league.

This brings solidity and hopefully a well defined project that everyone works together to conceive and execute.

Because so far there’s confusion literally at every level of the organization.

  8. If they backed out of Lopetegui b/c of the fan backlash, as they claim, then went with Fonseca shows me that they are either liars or incompetent. b/c they didn’t understand the fans concerns and just made a rash decision to shut us up or that deal with Lopetegui actually fell through and they used the fans anger as an excuse to save face. Neither quality is okay to have running this club.

  9. What a surprise. Like when Judas Furlani stabbed Maldini in the back? Zlatan is probably bragging to Jerry that he was right not to want Fonseca. Furlani and Moncada are probably trying to scapegoat Fonseca. And Furlani must be napping somewhere after a good lunch topped with limoncello.

    American Psycho.
