Although AC Milan won their last two games to ease the pressure somewhat, there continues to be speculation about Stefano Pioli’s future beyond the end of the current season.
According to the newspaper La Repubblica (via Radio Rossonera), Roma’s CEO Lina Souloukou has started to explore the availability of some coaches for the next season, including the current Milan head coach Pioli.
Pioli, who of course coached Lazio, has been with the Rossoneri since October 2019 but at the end of the season he could move on after nearly half a decade in charge, while Jose Mourinho is tipped to leave the Giallorossi too.
Souloukou has the task of planning for Roma’s future but is doing so amid the ‘deafening silence of the Friedkins on the renewals of Mourinho and Tiago Pinto’, the latter being their current sporting director.
The current idea is to bring François Modesto (currently at Monza) in as a replacement but other ideas are on the table, while regarding head coaches the likes of Rafaelle Palladino, Vincenzo Italiano, Xabi Alonso and Pioli are being evaluated.
There were ‘informal chats with those who look after their interests’ to pitch the complete package: a new coach and sporting director, a double role.
