Repubblica: Pochettino emerges as an idea for Milan amid uncertain Chelsea future

By Oliver Fisher -

As the days pass by and we get closer to the end of the season there seems to be no further clarity on who will be AC Milan’s head coach next season, but Mauricio Pochettino of Chelsea is someone to keep an eye on.

According to La Repubblica (via PianetaMilan), the 5-1 win over Cagliari at San Siro changes practically nothing: the leadership have already decided that this will be Stefano Pioli’s last season in charge as he will pay for the bad results in big games.

A number of different candidates have already been linked such as Sergio Conceicao of Porto, Paulo Fonseca of Lille, Mark van Bommel of Antwerp and Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton, but now a new name has entered the list.

The paper states that Giorgio Furlani, Geoffrey Moncada, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and co. are keeping an eye on the situation linked to Pochettino, who is currently at Chelsea but continues to be the subject of rumours about a sacking.

The Argentine himself has left the door open when it comes to his future with the Blues. When asked about it after the win over Nottingham Forest last night, he said.

“I never said I am not happy. I never said that. I said maybe I am not happy, maybe I am happy. But it’s normal, the headline,” he said (via The Standard).

“Sometimes too much honesty when I’m talking but it’s not a problem. I have one year more on my contract. Like I said yesterday, I’m thinking always in long term, thinking that it’s going to be for life here.

“We are professional, we try to win games. We are trying to make the owners happy and the staff. I am responsible for all of the staff at the training ground in Cobham. I try to make the players happy and the fans. That is my job. Easy [laughs]. So easy.”

  1. So he will accept going down from about his current Chelsea salary which is about 13 million dollars to whatever 4 or 5 million Milan management is willing to pay for a new coach 🤣🤣🤣

If Milan has this magical negotiation skills then they should go after Klopp or Tuchel.

  2. Sorry no billion dollar transfer kitty here for new players you’ve never heard of just players you’ve never heard of on free transfers 🙈🙉🙊
