Repubblica: Three Serie A clubs ask for Milan, Inter and Juventus to be expelled from the league

Three Serie A clubs have reportedly requested that AC Milan, Inter and Juventus be kicked out of Serie A over the Super League announcement.

An official statement on the club’s website has confirmed that Milan along with Arsenal, Atlético de Madrid, Chelsea FC, FC Barcelona, Inter, Juventus, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur have all joined the ‘Super League’ as Founding Clubs.

The idea is that there will be 20 participating clubs with 15 ‘Founding Clubs’ and a qualifying mechanism for a further five teams to qualify annually based on achievements in the prior season. There will be two groups of 10, and founding clubs will get €3.5bn just for signing up.

The response from both UEFA and other clubs has been strong. According to La Repubblica (via Calciomercato.com), Atalanta, Hellas Verona and Cagliari are three clubs who yesterday asked that Juventus, Inter and Milan be excluded from Serie A this season, following the announcement of the creation of the Super League.
