After meetings about San Siro earlier this year, AC Milan and Inter have been presented with eagerly awaited plans for a potential renovation, a report has claimed this morning.
Whilst Milan are intent on the idea of a move to San Donato, and this feeling is reciprocated by Inter, they have not turned down the idea of a San Siro renovation project, and have listened to plans presented to them by WeBuild, who offered to take the project on.
In recent months, there was a meeting about the possibility of a renovation, and whilst the conference was mocked for a lack of concrete plans, things could change in the upcoming months after a report has claimed that plans have been created.
La Repubblica (via Pianeta Milan) report that plans have been submitted to both clubs this morning, with tangible figures attached.
The report follows with some of the key information: of the 19,500 seats in the first ring there will be 13,400 ‘premium’ seats, and the second ring will hold 31,000 – the overall capacity of the renovated stadium will be 75,800.
Furthermore, the works would begin in January 2025, with the heaviest work being done throughout the summers, if both clubs approve the plans, but the stadium would not be completed until 2029. The work would be continuous throughout the four years, moving from one area of the stadium to another, but there would be an exception to the work for the 2026 Winter Olympics – which would mean all concerts are cancelled.
Finally, the report suggests the works would cost around €350 million.
If they can get some suckers to pay 350M for it, go ahead.
Sala said several times that he’s open to sell San Siro. It would probably cost little since Milan and Inter both have leverage with their relocation projects. Buy this fcking temple of football, theatre of our past glory and make Inter pay for renovations and a rent.
If Sala wants to renovate San Siro let him renovate, but Milan sole focus should be building their own stadium.
