Response arrives from LVMH regarding Arnault’s reported interest in Milan takeover

The Louis Vuitton group have once again denied any interest in buying AC Milan from current owners Elliott Management.

Speculation continues to rumble about Bernard Arnault’s possible interest in acquiring the Rossoneri, and La Repubblica reported on December 27 that Arnault has tabled a €975m bid to buy Milan and is awaiting a response to his offer.

The same outlet then claimed on Monday that talks are ‘at a crucial stage’ – with Gordon Singer in Italy to hold talks with representatives of the LVMH group.

Fellow fashion giant Giorgio Armani dropped a hint that Arnault is keen on buying AC Milan from Elliott Management during an interview yesterday, and the lack of denials from either party – as had arrived quickly before – was perceived to be a good sign.

However, denials have now come from the Arnault side. A spokesperson for the LVMH group reportedly told La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calcio e Finanza): “I can deny for the umpteenth time any interest of LVMH and its president Bernard Arnault, even personally. We never thought of Milan.”
