GdS: Returning to winning ways and backlash – Fonseca’s two ‘woes’

Paulo Fonseca is experiencing a difficult moment on and off the pitch with AC Milan, and things could get better this week, but it relies on improvement. 

The Atalanta game will be held in the memories of Milan’s season for some time. A loss that wrote off the highs of a good season, making the chances of an ‘acceptable’ season much lower in the process, and then Fonseca’s outburst.

A defeat that the head coach started with a vital error, rather than the faults of his own system, the Portuguese took to the media to slate the officiating of the match and others, and this has left him in a difficult situation.

Fonseca, as Gazzetta dello Sport (via Pianeta Milan) writes, is being kept on his toes by his two ‘woes’. Firstly, he must win at San Siro against Red Star Belgrade if the club want to progress to the final 16, which is a must if the Diavolo are to redeem themselves, and more importantly, himself.

Following this, the second ‘thorn’ in the head coach’s side is the statements made after the Atalanta game. He risks a fine or a suspension, but a decision has not been made yet, though it is possible that the parties look to settle for a ‘large fine’ rather than risking a suspension.
