Longo: ‘Ricci and Antonio Silva in June’ – Milan already lining up two further signings

AC Milan made five new additions during the winter transfer window but their work is far from complete on the squad, a report claims.

After the arrivals of Kyle Walker and Santiago Gimenez, many believed that Milan’s business would be done and that they would instead focus more on potential outgoings. However, deadline day had different ideas in store.

Joao Felix, Warren Bondo and Riccardo Sottil all joined the club, while Noah Okafor, Ismael Bennacer and Kevin Zeroli departed the Rossoneri, making it one of the most active final days of the window in recent years.

Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com has written the following on X: ‘Walker, Gimenez, Joao Felix now. Ricci and Antonio Silva in June. A beautiful Milan could be born’. He is referring to Samuele Ricci and the Benfica defender Antonio Silva, who were linked during the January window.

Ricci is one of Milan’s top targets for the midfield and while the link never heated up properly in the January window, the Rossoneri did make an attempt to sign the Torino star.

Meanwhile, Silva was mentioned as an option for if one of Strahinja Pavlovic or Fikayo Tomori were to depart amid offers from abroad. He is represented by Jorge Mendes, the same agent Felix and Sergio Conceicao have.

  1. We have 20 internationals, so we have to replace at least 3 with Italians…

    Chukwueze -> Gnoto
    Jovic -> Luca
    RLC -> Ricci
    Emerson + Florenzi -> RB who can also sometimes shift to LB

    Sottil I don’t think is enough to be Leao sub, but hope he proves us wrong…

    1. Sottil is Pulisic’s deputy. He can play on the right or in the middle, not the left. Felix is right-footed and can play LW. In short, the winger positions are well covered between Leao, Pulisic, Felix, and Sottil.

        1. Nice idea
          Good to trim deadwood players off the squad; that is the first step to fixing our depth (bench-quality) problem especially in midfield.

          I think RLC should be sold in the summer and we get to keep Adli.
          For me Adli seems like the ‘closest thing’ the a ‘reijnders deputy’ ; has great vision, eye for goal, can be an extra creative outlet ( also dictate play) in a midfield trio.
          If management has to find a deputy rejnders because we do not have a similar profile in midfield (methinks Adli).
          Go shop for Reijnders deputy/ a ‘Tonali type’ please!!!
          ‘Over-playing’ or lack of rotation was also responsible for Bennacer’s decline and Reijnders has to be well managed.

          I think most teams have figured all they have to do is sit back, put 3 players on Leao; apply a zonal block around the the left half space towards their goalpost.

          Sottil (if Leao is rested) can hold down the left flank in a 442 and Leao/ felix can play next to Gimenez. That way the ‘Triple up on Leao’ gimmick leaves opponents exposed as attempt to implement it on edge of the box would create holes behind for Gimenez pulisic, and Felix to exploit.

  2. Unless we made an agreement with Ricci to get him during summer, there is no need to talk about it now. Many things can happen before and during summer and if there is competition for him, we’re more likely to lose than not.
    In order to have a good defense, the same pairing should be maintained as long as possible, even if the 2 CBs themselves aren’t worldclass. So in my opinion, we should leave the defense alone during the summer and focus on other more important areas.

  3. Antonio Silva isn’t a good CB, benfica do not rate him and I think it is normal for Benfica to overhyped their players when their whole business model boils down to selling.

    I hope Milan do not go for him but instead fixate on giving quality depth to the full backs, midfield and forward line.

    1. we will need anywhere from 1-4 signings in attack in the summer.
      (Tammy, Felix, Sottil – we don’t own any of them, Chukwueze and Jovic most likely won’t be here past summer 2025)

      Alexis-Tammy situation needs to be resolved, will Sottil and Chukwueze succeed or need replacement, Jovic-upgrade since we will need 4 strikers for 4-4-2, Felix loan extension…

      quality fullback and Ricci are things we have needed since this season’s summer transfers… still a long way to go imo until we are done with rebuilding the squad…

  4. I think Pavlovic should stay as he is rapidly improving and is showing with time he can be better. I think we should still bring in a CB to complement him and let Tomori leave during the summer back to the Premier League.

    With that said, Ricci should absolutely be a priority in the summer. I feel as if our midfield is a bit thinner than other areas.

  5. Stupid comment about letting Tomori leave … Why would a team needs 11 starters??? A team neads at least 18 to 20 starters… Competition improves players , players improves a team!! We need to keep our players( regulars) and upgrade our team

  6. Now these are serious transfers, along with Gimenez. Finally some proper players, not best “bang for the buck” as the owner would say.
