‘We all feel important’ – Ricci sheds light on derby, shadowing Modric and targets

Samuele Ricci has insisted that the AC Milan squad are all united and ready for the biggest game of the season against Inter.

The upcoming clash between Milan and Inter on Sunday night has already been given the ‘do-or-die’ tag by Rafael Leao, with the Rossoneri hoping to reopen the title race by winning and cutting the cap to seven points.

With a win or even with a draw, Inter know that they would take a huge step towards lifting the league title. Derby fever is something else though, and that means they will no doubt be focused on levelling the scores after their 1-0 defeat to Massimiliano Allegri’s side back in November.

Ricci: ‘We all feel important’

Ricci gave a brief interview to Milan TV ahead of Sunday night’s derby. The Italian touched on a variety of topics, from his seasonal aims to what it’s like learning from a player such as Luka Modric.

How are the team with the derby approaching?

“We all feel important, thanks to the coach and the staff, who always make us feel part of the team, always trying to keep everyone involved, even those who play less. Competition is obviously very high, especially at such a big club.

“A player’s professionalism also means being ready when called upon to play, even if it’s just for a few minutes. We wear a shirt that anyone would want to wear.”

What’s it like learning from Modric?

“Even off the pitch, you see a man who knows how to behave, never a word out of place, never a complaint. This shows his greatness.”

This will be your second Milan derby…

“It’s an important rivalry, always one of the most beautiful in the world. It’s seen everywhere, and we should feel lucky to be approaching a game like this.”

What are the aims for the season?

“We’ve been saying it since the start of the season: this club deserves to be in the Champions League, and we’re in a good place now. We still need points. We’ll try to give our all until the end, no matter who’s called upon, and then we’ll see…”
