RMC Sport: Hernandez and Maignan also missing from France’s training – the latest

By Isak Möller -

Olivier Giroud has returned to Italy due to his injury and thus wasn’t present for France’s training session earlier today. Interestingly enough, Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez were also absent, a report claims.

Giroud sustained an injury in the game against Ireland, experiencing pain in his left ankle, and thus returned to Italy today to continue his recovery ahead of the derby. However, he wasn’t the only Milan player missing from France’s training today.

According to RMC Sport, Hernandez and Maignan were also absent from today’s training session. The goalkeeper got some extra treatment in the recovery room, while the full-back received a knock to his calf but it’s nothing serious for both of them.

Milan will take on Inter in the derby next and will need all hands on deck to claim the three points against the Nerazzurri. Giroud is keen on making it back in time, while the other two certainly should be available for the game.

  1. National Teams games right after the begining of the season is the stupidest thing why dont make all the games happen one year before WC or Euros and wen that happens theres no Leagues going so that way teams dont have to lose there players because of injurys that happen because they have stupid games from National Teams right after the begin of a new season or at the middle of said season and lose players wich the clubs pay good money for to play in there team and help reach the goals of each team from were they are!

    1. The World Cup isn’t the only competition but more importantly, you need these guys to play regularly so that come the competitions that matter, the team has cohesion. You need every so often a break where they play the games that matter

We need to chill the F out. The players are going to be fine, the team is gonna be fine.

      1. Forgot to finish my sentence:

“You need every so often a break where they play the games that matter … for these competitions and maintaining a real national team.

      2. Alternatively, the amount of pointless international football has diluted its value.

I live in Manchester and I’ve literally just come home from a pub where they were showing Sky Sport News while the England game was live on Channel 4 – nobody seemed bothered enough to ask for a channel change. Very few people care about this.

  2. Dont get me wrong i love to see our players represent the national teams but is just stupid to have national team games right after the begin of the season and get our players injured because of this games!

    1. Right – because none of our players have been injured in these stupid internationals before. Or won’t in the future. They’re magically exempt from injuries while playing 7 games in 21 days!

    2. The last time we heard the injury isn’t so serious about Magic Mike, he was out for 3 months, so if alarm bells are ringing know it’s a scary sign.

  3. France’s next game is just a friendly against Germany. Hopefully they play the young guys because it’s meaningless and Mike Theo and Thiaw get some rest.

  4. New format for international football. Change the the Euros, where the top 16 ranked nations qualify automatically and everyone else pre qualifies in a champions league style format.

Then have the 8 quarter finalists in the Euros qualify automatically for the next World Cup, and the 8 losers in the round of 16 go into playoffs against each other for the remaining World Cup places.

Get rid of these pointless qualification ‘competitions’ all together. Virtually every football fan I know sees this as a week where there is ‘no football’, so I can’t imagine the TV numbers are great – why bother.
