Johann Crochet of RMC Sport France has given some important insight into AC Milan targets Renato Sanches and Sven Botman, as well as imminent new signing Divock Origi.
In an interview with MilanNews, Crochet was asked about why Renato Sanches could be the right profile for the Rossoneri to come in and bolster the midfield department given that Franck Kessie will leave on a free transfer for Barcelona.
“Because he is the player who, due to his characteristics, can best replace the void left by Kessiè. He has important qualities from a physical and technical point of view, knows how to integrate well with the various game systems and is very intelligent. Among other things he is gifted. He also has a good right foot and guarantees the right mix of quality and substance,” he responded.
There has been some concern about the Portuguese midfielder’s injury record as he has picked up repeated physical problems during his time with Bayern Munich and Lille, something the journalist acknowledged.
“he big question mark concerns his condition because, in the recent past, he has often been in the pits. If the condition is right, Milan could do a great deal.”
Crochet was asked whether Renato would perform better in a double pivot with Ismael Bennacer or with Sandro Tonali.
“With both because in terms of aptitudes he can complete both of them. Perhaps, looking from the outside, with Bennacer he would do a little better but it would not be a discriminating factor,” he said.
Is it an operation that will be done?
“In my opinion, yes. The ties between Milan and Lille, thanks also to Elliott’s past, are excellent and the operation is definitely underway. Sanches, moreover, is not a player who can give his best in the Premier League or LaLiga. I see well at Milan, if the price is really that of twenty million, a quick conclusion can be reached.”
What do you feel about Botman instead?
“The track is more difficult because the inclusion of Newcastle could have an impact. The player seems to want Milan and the appeal of the Rossoneri is certainly higher than that of the English. However, Newcastle seem to want to spend a lot of money. It will depend a lot on Lille.”
Could the signing of Divock Origi affect Giroud’s role as a starter?
“From this point of view I don’t think so. If the dualism is between these two players, I believe that the starting centre-forward of Milan will be Giroud with Origi ready to alternate. If then something else comes from the market, things could change…”
