AC Milan fell to defeat in their Perth friendly on Friday as they were beaten 5-2 by Roma in what was an entertaining and at times borderline comedic affair.
Around 60,000 fans were on hand to watch the game at the Optus Stadium in Western Australia and they were treated to an end-to-end game, with seven goals and a total unwillingness to defend on the part of both teams.
It was Roma who took the lead in the first half, though Tommaso Baldanzi had Marco Sportiello to thank. He picked up the ball on the right and cut inside, firing a shot that deflected and seemed to go through Milan’s deputy goalkeeper.
However, the Rossoneri drew level with what was the goal of the game. A cross from Davide Calabria on the right went all the way to Theo Hernandez, who lashed in an outstanding volley from about 20 yards.
Daniele De Rossi’s side restored their lead just before the break through Tammy Abraham, who swept home a lovely first-time finish from a cut-back having seen a header denied just moments earlier.
Roma made it 3-1 early in the second half when the full-back Angelino took advantage of Fikayo Tomori being slow to recover, firing in off the far post with a low shot that seemed to take a deflection.
That would start a run of three goals in three minutes. Noah Okafor got the next one virtually straight from kick-off with a powerful drive inside the box, then Paulo Dybala made it 4-2 with a rocket.
With just under 13 minutes left on the clock Roma again scored with a shot across goal that cannoned in off the upright, this time from Sardar Azmoun.
The nicest thing that can be said about the game from a Milan perspective is that the likes of Alex Jimenez, Davide Bartesaghi, Kevin Zeroli, Jan-Carlo Simic and Filippo Terracciano got some game time.
Jimenez, Rjeinders and Adli were all really good.
Goal Keeping seemed to be the major difference between the teams.
Roma’s young goal keeper in the second half was very good.
Midfield with Reijnders & Adli was indeed very good. Jimenez is a star in the making, but we need to figure out his position quickly
Reset for AC Milan from 0. Be careful with new coach.
Another day, another loss. But it’s a friendly so I don’t really care
I doubt us getting top 4 next season on the way we’ve been playing recently.
who signed musah ?
I’m used to it now just the same old crap sixth or seventh next season.
