Roma facing potential injury crisis ahead of Milan game – the possible absentees

By Oliver Fisher -

Roma could have a few selection issues ahead of Saturday’s crucial match against AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico it seems.

The Giallorossi and the Rossoneri are currently battling it out for a place in the next edition of the Champions League with Milan having jumped into fourth last night by virtue of Roma losing by two goals against Atalanta.

It is a direct confrontation that could well be feisty and potentially even decisive given that there are not a great number of games left and the two clubs are sat on equal points (56).

As MilanLive reports, Mourinho will have to do without Chris Smalling and Georginio Wijnaldum for the game in the capital, while Paulo Dybala came off during the game against La Dea last night and is in doubt.

Mourinho spoke to DAZN before the match against Atalanta, confirming that Smalling had a serious injury..

“It’s tough without Smalling. He’s good at communication, we won’t have him for many games, certainly not for the next ones. We don’t know for how long,” he said.

The condition of Dybala must be assessed but it currently seems unlikely he will be back as a starter in four days, why Diego Llorente came off with a muscle problem towards the end of the game and looked in real pain.

  1. If we have luck to see Roma without best players in the game. We must do best of to play against Roma and next one against Cremonese.

Than, there are games against Lazio and Inter, in between Spezia…

It will be difficult to use first team players without rotation.

Still in first two games, Pioli should use the best players to gain maximum possible points. Against Lazio and Spezia he should rotate more, and risk more, and against Inter to have team in best possible shape and form.
