AC Milan are going to have to make up ground in the mercato if they are to bring Joshua Zirkzee back to Italy this winter.
Reports in the past week have taken Zirkzee from a candidate to the favourite for the winter mercato, and the Dutchman could return to Italy next month. Manchester United are willing to let him depart, but certain criteria must be met.
The Dutchman would be available on loan, but a €35 million clause would be inserted and activated upon qualification for the Champions League. In other words, it would be quite likely that he would join Milan permanently if he arrived on loan.
Battle for Zirkzee
However, things are not that simple. Calciomercato.com report that the Rossoneri have only explored the idea of signing him, without taking it further. Massimiliano Allegri would still prefer a physical goalscorer rather than the former Bologna man.

Elsewhere, though, Roma have already got the green light to negotiate a deal. Kia Joorabchian, the forward’s agent, has almost given the club ‘complete openness’ so they are the clear leaders for the striker as it stands.
Fortunately, there is one stalling point there. Zirkzee earns €4m net per season, and until the finances are agreed, a deal will not be completed. If Milan want to make a move, there is time to do so, but it may not be for long.

Try and get Isak from Liverpool.
I know its gonna be Hard but try.
Nah screw this Kia guy. Shouldn’t deal with him ever again after what he did two summers ago.
Maybe we just don’t bother with Zirkzee. We have Nkunku, Pulisic, RLC and Rafa as 9.5 or SS. We have Gimenez as our only true 9.
I’m honestly intrigued by both Ferguson and Dovbyk.
Gasperini is a genius, but he didn’t use Scamaca well. Today he scored a brace as a classic 9.
Assuming Allegri wants back to the goal, hold up, link up, header and not dazzling foot work, either has potential.
He’ll go find Tammy Abraham, apologize and bring him back. Still can’t figure out how we let that guy walk.
Scamacca can’t stay fit. Pinamonti would be easier to get.
