Alexis Saelemaekers has convinced everyone at AS Roma that he is worth signing permanently, but AC Milan have set a high initial asking price.

According to Calciomercato.com, Saelemaekers has earned unanimous trust at Roma, from his team-mates to the head coach Claudio Ranieri even up to the owners the Friedkins. His excellent performances on the field have resulted in a desire to keep him beyond his season-long dry loan.

Roma moved early to try to set up negotiations with Milan for a permanent acquisition of the former Anderlecht and Bologna player. The first official talks – which took place in the second half of June in Milan between the directors – led to an abrupt slowdown however.

Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani does not intend to swap the Belgian for Tammy Abraham, adding a cash sum in favour of the Giallorossi, which is what was requested by their sporting director Florent Ghisolfi.

In fact, the Rossoneri directors would only give the green light to the sale of Saelemaekers in the face of an offer of €25-30m, and Roma has been notified. Sergio Conceição has already expressed a very positive opinion of the wing-back and would be happy to coach him next season.

Only a truly sizeable offer from an economic point of view could justify the farewell of Saelemaekers, so Roma must either pay up or simply have to accept that he is heading back to Milan.

  1. Good. Saelemakers is a very good player and he’d be so handy next year. Same with Kalulu, who is a good safe option at right back and a handy CB option.

The. sell Chuk, Loftus, Emerson, send Tammy back to Roma and use camarda as the backup forward. That along with Ricci + sell tomori if a good offer comes (you already have Kalulu back) and all of a sudden you have a team with very little dead weight.

    1. Kalulu isnt coming back as Juventus lend him for roughly 3 mil with a buy option at 13 mil or something and considering how well he has done and that his value now exceeds the buy option there is no chance that Kalulu will return. Maybe one scenario I could visualize him returning though is if he was long term injured towards the end of the season,
When he left the club one of Kalulus brothers even implied that Milan was now a closed chapter in his career.

      1. Oh really? Fair. I guess Motta did trust him when Fonseca didn’t. In any case, a young understudy to Kyle walker would be great. Jimenez could be an option at RB as well pending how his defensive capabilities develop.

        1. Yeah from the sound of his brother he seemed disappointed with how he basically was forced out of the club so its very difficult for me to see him wanting to come back even if we had the chance. I like Jimenez a lot as well but there has been conflicting reports in regard of our ownership of him as some reports says that Real Madrid has a buyback option for this summer set at 7 or 9 mil and then the next one in the summer of 2026 at 12 mil. Then there was a recent report that said there was none. Hopefully its the latter as it would be a great shame to be further developing one of Madrids players as we did with Brahim Diaz.

          1. I don’t see Jimenez ever developing enough to Real to want him back. Sure, he could become good but Real wants world-class players in every position. They can easily find 10x better players elsewhere and money isn’t an issue either.

          2. Sure bb he might not but Real Madrid also has a habbit of inserting buyback clauses in their sales and when the players is brought back then sold quickly with a profit so if they actually have one then I wouldn’t feel too safe to be honest but we will see.

        1. Well sure he has but id nevertheless rather have had kept him in the squad this season for the right back than using Royal for half a season. things might have looked different. That is of course up until we lend Walker but heck id rather have played calabria in the first part of the season as well.

      2. He is injured now and it wil be around 1 month mayve 1,5 month…so his buying is not 100% i think … i hope they buy him but there is possibility he will stay

        1. I’m pretty sure that a month or a month and a half long injury isn’t really enough to disuade them from buying him. I was thinking more like a long term injury like half a year or more happening in late May or something.

  2. Kalulu ist gone. Juve have an option on him. They decided to buy him out. 🫤 Tomori will leave in summer and we gonna go, I think, for Antonio Silva from Benfica. Not bad option as for me…

  3. I like Saele a lot. Though he lacks quality in certain fields, he is always giving 110%, which is quite unusual for our team in the recent years.

But 25-30M for him is very very optimistic. If he is okay with staying more on San Siro bench, than playing more on Olimpico field, we will have a flexible hard-worker on the bench. If he wants to make it a permanent move, he will be sold for 10-15M max, I imagine.

  4. If we really go for a 4-4-2, then we could use him, as a backup on both wings. It would be similar to the system Pioli implemented, with an asymetric formation, a more advanced LW with a defensive RW.

  5. It would be foolish to keep Salaemakers. He is average at best. Sell him and get Ricardo Orsolini. He’s a good backup for Pulisic and he knows how to score goals and provide more assists and he’s Italian.

Orsolini is better than Chukwueze and Salaemakers combined.

    1. Different kinds of players dude. We wouldn’t be bring Salad back to provide 10 goals and 10 assists. We’d be bringing him back to provide defensive workrate in a 4-4-2. You’d bring him in when we need to hold a result or even start him against teams where we expect to lose possession.

    2. Agreed. Orsolini or someone better. If the offer from Roma is good, sell him. He’ll be under pressure to perform well if he comes back, and his value would drop again. He’s at the best place for him at the moment, so make the best of their desire to keep him.

  6. It’s time to start selling properly at hight value and end the era of loosing players on a free or loan them out to competitors with low buy options… Either you put the money on the table or move along

  7. Only if conceicao stay at Milan for next season. I think Alexis would be sold to Roma next season coz Milan need some cash after they buy gimenez

  8. Saelemaekers love Milan. If Milan wants him back, he would love to. Walker is old and cannot play for the entire season and could be emergency backup for cb.
Alexis would be very flexible on tactical standpoint on the right side. Just imagine the kind emergency like we had against Empoli. And he is good option for regular rotation too.

    1. “Walker is old and cannot play for the entire season and could be emergency backup for cb.”

Well, I call it BS and we’ll just have to wait and see 😉

      1. Remember Giroud? He was older. He was amongst the top runners in Milan. He played twice a week with no rest. Age alone doesn’t mean sh1t. It’s about how much work you put in to compensate getting older. Which makes me think Leao might retire at 32 already. If not sooner…

  9. Forza Milan. Join Milan Global Fans platform by sending me hi on my Whatsapp number +233248637248. My name is Afriyie Kwaku Boachie, a teacher, blogger in Ghana

  10. I’d sell Saele for 15-20m if Roma don’t want to spend then 10m + Soulé or Baldanzi or Pisili. If they don’t wanna do that then sell him for 20-25m to somewhere else. I’d probably sell Chuk and RLC too . Brought some new players in. Some under the radar Alberto Moleiro LW Sem Stejn CAM Roger Fernandes Winger Semih Kilisçoy Winger Ruben Van Bommel Winger Johan Bakayoko RW Oscar Gloukh CAM Heonhi Sudakov CAM Martin Baturina CAM Wilson Odobert LW Maghnes Akliouche Malick Fofana Sabbe Seys De Cuyper Quinten Timber Jorell Hato Hartman Paixao Pafundi

    1. Well if we’re playing a 442 he’s easily a good right midfielder or backup to Puli. I’ve noticed his crossing has improved alot (the thing many said he needed to work on). With Theo left midfield I think he’d do a decent job.

  11. he’s no star but also not a mediocre,
he cover both side from back to fw,
a useful player, deserve stay more than Chuck/ Origi,
w/ Sottil, Sael & Terra we’re covered almost in all area, maybe + Camarda, Bondo, Pavlo & young Colombian GK we’ll have young strong backup
