With Alessio Romagnoli set to leave Milan at the end of the season, Lazio are preparing to make room to accommodate him financially, according to one report.
Milan have tabled a contract offer to Romagnoli, a deal worth less than his current contract, but the defender is looking to hold out for a better offer, be it from the Rossoneri or elsewhere.
Tuttomercatoweb (via MilanNews) report that Romagnoli is firmly a part of Maurizio Sarri’s planning for an overhaul at Lazio, presenting him the chance to return to Rome, but with his boyhood club instead.
Despite the 27-year-old being available on a free transfer, however, Lazio are looking to free up their finances. Letting several contracts expire has helped, but making certain players available for sale is also a consideration, namely Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Romagnoli could be part of a new-look Lazio, in a hunt for regular game time once again.

The great thing about him is that he is really good defensively as well.
Sadly Origi’s not an RW, he spent most of his career playing as an ST, and LW as a backup role. He’s also a better player than Belotti, having spent the last 6 years under Klopp. Stats also show that he’s better than Belotti in many aspects, and doesn’t have to play regularly to perform well. I wouldn’t mind seeing them both here, but I doubt the club could afford it. I’d love to see SMS here though.
The management should strike a deal with them before Romanogli’s contract expires,a 40 million plus Romanogli for SMS.
Clearly You dont know how it works. The mercato starts 30th of June and this is also the day when Romagnoli contract expires…so no team is gonna buy him from us because on the day he can sign a new contract with a new club he will be a free player…
Ahmed means give Romagnoli the contract he wants so he resigns then use him as a bargaining chip to lower SMS ‘s transfer fee
But this could also backfire if they don’t deal and then we’re stuck with him making 5/6 mill on the bench
Ahmed needs to understand that this is reality, not Football Manager.
We have a lot of option in that position.
