Romagnoli: “Now I am at my favourite team but Milan is the other half”

Alessio Romagnoli has some nice words to say after Lazio’s 2-2 draw with his former club AC Milan last need, stating that they occupy half of his heart.

Romagnoli joined Milan in 2015 from Roma, costing the Rossoneri a fee of around €25m. It was a significant investment from the club back then and the defender didn’t exactly disappoint, eventually becoming the club captain and hoisting the Scudetto trophy in 2022.

After seven years, Romagnoli made a total of 247 appearances for Milan and found the back of the net ten times. He also got two trophies in the process, the Supercoppa in 2016 and the league title, and then he moved on to join his former club Lazio.

He faced the Rossoneri last night as the Biancocelesti drew 2-2 in what was an entertaining encounter for the neutrals but no doubt a frustrating one for the players and fans from both sides, given the leads surrendered along with the hopes to build momentum.

Romagnoli is at Monza where the Italian Grand Prix is taking place, and he spoke to Sky to comment on yesterday evening’s match against his former team, with MilanNews relaying his words.

“Milan are a fantastic club for me. I am attached to them and I grew up at Milan. Now I am at my favourite team but Milan is the other half,” he said.

“Yesterday it was very exciting, it was a great match and today we are here having fun. We will aim for Europe, to do well in the Europa League and to do our best in the championship to try to get into the Champions League.”
