Romagnoli makes admission about last season after ‘perfect match against a strong team’

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan centre-back Alessio Romagnoli has admitted to making some mistakes last season but believes he has what it takes to give Stefano Pioli some selection dilemmas.

It seems to be clear now that Kjaer and Tomori are ahead of him in the hierarchy, but Romagnoli has never felt like he is a reserve nor has he considered himself one, but rather is an integral part of a more complete squad compared to last season.

Romagnoli spoke to DAZN after keeping a clean sheet against Lazio about the performance of the team, how he is feeling at the moment and whether winning the league is a realistic target for this team, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“Today we played a perfect match against a strong team. We did what we had to do,” he said.

“I always try to give my best both in training and in the game. Last year I made some mistakes and the important thing is to know how to get up and try to fix and improve if called into question and to put the coach in difficulty.”

The win puts Milan top of the league albeit temporarily until Roma play, as one of only two teams (so far) to have won all of their league games this season.

“It’s still very early. We are on matchday three and the season is very long. Let’s enjoy today’s game and think about Wednesday.”
