CM: Romagnoli recovers and has a mission at Milan – his future unclear as Lazio advance

By Oliver Fisher -

Alessio Romagnoli has recovered from his slight injury and is available against Empoli on Saturday, but he is unlikely to get his starting spot back.

That is according to Calciomercato.com, who report that Pioli is unlikely to interrupt the fantastic patch of form that Pierre Kalulu is in and therefore the Frenchman should partner Fikayo Tomori at the back again, which is certainly a choice that means something with regards to Romagnoli’s uncertain future.

The Milan captain will see his contract with Milan expire this summer, and he is not convinced to accept a big drop in his salary to renew, which is why a farewell currently seems likely. Lazio and Juventus are keen, though the latter have simply asked Mino Raiola for information.

The Biancocelesti are ready to offer a multi-year contract at €3m net per season which is still a steep drop in pay but is a slightly higher figure than what Milan have offered to far. A meeting is scheduled in the second half of March to continue the negotiations, but in the meantime Romagnoli’s desire is to get his starting spot back and to win a trophy or two with the Rossoneri.
