AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli has thanked a fan who sent in a photo of them fighting Coronavirus on the frontline with his name on their back.
Football among other sports has taken a back seat while Italy and the rest of the world try and suppress the virus, with players not in training and no timeframe regarding a return.
But certain things are far bigger than the spot, and a fan of Romagnoli – who appears to be a doctor – sent a photo of them in a hospital with the defender’s name emblazoned on their back.
The Rossoneri defender wrote a public message to the person in question: “Yesterday I received this photo … and this boy wrote to me ‘You are my idol!’ And I answer instead that the idol is you, indeed, it is all of you who are risking your life to save ours. There is no greater gift. You are our pride and we can only thank you: THANKS FOR EVERYTHING.”
