Il Romanista: ‘Would satisfy everyone’ – Milan and Roma in talks over exchange deal

After a report emerged yesterday claiming that AC Milan are interested in a swap deal with Roma for Nicola Zalewski, the same source have doubled down today.

Il Romanista suggested yesterday that Roma and Milan are in talks over an exchange deal involving Zalewski and Alexis Saelemaekers, and today’s edition of the newspaper (seen below) has once again spoken about the idea.

They state that Zalewski has ‘once again returned to the centre of the Roma transfer market’ and is expected to leave. There have only been a few requests for information though and nothing more, but instead now the situation could unblock itself at any moment.

Milan are ready to pounce and by offering up Saelemaekers, who – as per the paper – did not fully convince Paulo Fonseca in the pre-season friendlies and thus the Belgian could be part of the operation. Roma would pay a cash sum, too.

It is an operation that ‘would satisfy everyone’, from the two players to directors. In addition to Milan, PSV have also asked for information on the Italian-Polish full-back and this simple interest could turn into something more concrete in the next few hours.

In addition to that swap deal, they also state that Manu Koné is a target for Roma after Milan were also linked. The player has said yes to the Giallorossi, with Monchengladbach asking for around €25m but with sales needed.

  1. I dont know if he is better than Saelemakers, but since he comes from Roma young team he will count as Homegrown (association-trained) so in theory its a good deal.

    1. He’s Mourinho’s favorite, defensively sound but less in attack. There’s also rumors of him going to Napoli so I wouldn’t trust this too much.

He’s in his final year so direct swap is just bad business

    2. He’s Serie A trained, which like you said counts in one of the quotas. And, I’m pretty sure he’s comfortable at LB. Which is positionally better suited to than Saelamaekers.

I agree that like for like swap is a bad deal but Zalewski+ cash component (around 5-7mn) and I’ll take that for the Salad

  2. Zalewski in Milan is good option, because of universality of this player. he could fill many gaps in many positions. the problem is that swap on Saelemaekers not necessary the best. Thiago Motta appreciated Belgian player because of some important things.

  3. I don’t see the point in this. We already have 2 many wingers so swap winger for winger is absolutely pointless. Might as well keep salad at least he doesn’t need integrate time

  4. “ Saelemaekers, who – as per the paper – did not fully convince Paulo Fonseca in the pre-season friendlies”

Uhm quite the opposite actually. Thy how you know Il Romanista is full of sh/y/te…
