‘Asked for deal conditions’ – Romano states Akanji is part of ‘three man’ Milan shortlist

Whilst a striker is garnering the most attention this summer, AC Milan also want another defender, and have made new contact.

The focus, understandably, is on a move for a striker. We are in the desperation stage of the window, and Milan still do not have the position that they started the summer needing most. However, there is another area that could be considered weak.

Koni De Winter’s arrival added to the squad in the way of a replacement, if you will. However, there can and have been questions about whether he has upgraded the defence as a unit.

After the 2-1 loss to Cremonese, where he was not given a chance, it appears not, and in a mercato summit on Sunday morning, Massimiliano Allegri requested another centre back.

Another defender

A few names have been floated about since, notably Merih Demiral and Caleb Okoli. However, it seems that they may not be the only ideas, if they are ideas at all.

Last night, Fabrizio Romano stated that the Rossoneri had ‘approached’ Manuel Akanji, who is considering his future. Though it seems this approach may have gone well, with the esteemed journalist adding to it this morning.

According to Romano, the club have asked Manchester City for ‘deal conditions’ regarding a move for the Swiss defender, though a formal bid has not been sent yet. He is ‘one of three names’ on the Milan shortlist, so it could be him, one of the aforementioned names, or a mystery man.

    1. Akanji is a horrible defender worse than Thiaw. He’s not what Milan need. Milan should spend the 35m for Comuzzo. Smh

    1. pitty we waited until the end of the transfer window to cook. It’s nice to see we are reactive (hopefully it won’t be a flop move like the last winter transfer window)

  1. I will be mighty furious if we end up with someone like Dovbyk when Vlahovic is available at fairly affordable terms.

    1. Vlahovic has 12mil reasons not to come to Milan. In fact I’d even say, he is THE REASON why he isn’t here yet …

    1. According to reports then he is apparently willing to take a cut in his salary to 6 mil + 1.5 mil in potential bonuses. Add maybe 10-15 mil in agent fees and it still sounds a lot better to me than all the alternatives.

          1. About 5,967,327.51€ net. His base wage. So I think he is asking for the same he has at City. He probably has bonuses there as well.

          2. I have no issues with us getting Akanji but I was referring to Vlahovic as I’m not too interested in us acquiring Dovbyk instead of Vlahovic.

  2. Akanji is better than every defender at the club, put Tomori in a shoe box and send him with the money to Man City free of charge

  3. Akanji – good deal ✓ Should be a starter with Koni De Winter.

    Nkunku and Dovbyk in ?
Not what we wanted, but way Better than Boniface, Harder or Vlahovic disgrace..

  4. quality signing, very smart player provided he agrees to take a paycut. Much better than cumozzu or any of these Italians were linked with. Brings stability, leadership and winning mentality in the dressing room. I am all for it.

  5. Akanji is old. 30 years old. His value will decrease. No to old guy.

Buy young player. Like when we get thiaw. Let him grow with us for 3 years. Then sell for profit.

Just forget about trophy. We must focus to be profitable club.
