‘Very close in the past’ – Fabrizio Romano addresses Allegri to Real Madrid rumours

Fabrizio Romano is not aware of any pursuit of Massimiliano Allegri from Real Madrid, but he admitted that there has been previous links.

This morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport made the rather bold claim that Florentino Perez is looking for a new head coach and that a third attempt to hire Allegri was being evaluated. He wanted Jurgen Klopp, but it doesn’t seem as though the German is willing to leave his Red Bull role.

However, the paper also recall how Allegri recently stated that he could embark on a long second stint with the Rossoneri, that he is happy with how things are going at the club so far, and intends to lead them back into the Champions League after an ambitious summer mercato.

‘Very close in the past’

Fabrizio Romano took to his YouTube channel to address the rumours circulating that Allegri’s return to Milan for a second spell could last just one year, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“Max Allegri and Real Madrid have had many questions, and we’ll be hearing more because the Madrid issue will be important in the coming months,” he said.

“What I can tell you is that the Livorno-born coach was very close in the past to joining Los Blancos, but that’s a thing of the past. We don’t have any information on this matter today. If there’s any news, we’ll be the first to let you know…”

    1. Against Milan? You mean Madrid being interested in Allegri for the 4th or 5th time is a story against Milan? Brilliant. 😭
