Romano: Real Betis man will not join Milan in January but ‘deal remains on for June’

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan seem willing to let Juan Miranda remain with Real Betis until the end of the season and will focus on a free transfer instead, according to a report.

Milan have been heavily linked with a move for Miranda since the summer transfer window when it became clear that the management were pushing for a new left-back to become the deputy to Theo Hernandez, but in the end nobody arrived for the role.

Fabrizio Romano recently reported that negotiations over Miranda continued and Milan have ‘reached an agreement’ with the Spaniard who will join the club in 2024. Personal terms have all been agreed over a deal until June 2028, with the possibility of a January arrival for a small fee.

However, in his latest update the journalist states that Milan are currently not willing to pay the €3/4m transfer fee requested as compensation by Real Betis for Miranda to join in the January transfer window.

The deal remains on for June because he is out of contract in the summer and would join as free agent, but it seems that it will be necessary to wait a few more months until he swaps green and white for red and black.

  1. We don’t have a proper Theo back-up and the club is not willing to pay 3-4M to sign him now. The situation looks familiar, doesn’t it?

        1. Then he won’t come.
He’s not the first and won’t be the last player that doesn’t come to Serie A because the Growth Decree has messed up Italian teams’ finances.

      1. And when exactly WILL we be able to spend $$$??? We are profitable and no longer under FFP restrictions. We have finally found a reasonably priced back up to Theo who wants to come and avail for a small fee of 3M. Yes we can wait till summer – but we run the risk of losing him to a bigger offer and if Theo is out of action again or is forced to play CB – without a capable backup – run the risk of missing out on top 4. So I ask: when IS THE TIME that we can spend $$? And for a club always penny pinching and looking for deals – if we lose him – we will have to pay much more for a different back up in summer or be left again with Balo Toure. Disgusting

The CFCB will continue monitoring their compliance with the settlement agreement during next season. ”

  2. Let’s face it, none of the supposed targets will arrive in January. It’ll be a hodge-podge of late emergency signings of players shortly (or actually) out-of-contract, and rejects from bigger European clubs who are too old to go out on loan. Milan transfer-wise are at the level of a relegation-zone EPL club, but without the managerial intelligence. Don’t get me wrong, I love this club, but it needs a serious shake-up. And above all, more money.

  3. Consider Pioli gone, we cannot blame him for 100% of the regress, but 50% is fair. RedBird is the other 50%, after Pioli is gone, we will hold RedBird by their neck. Gerry the American, Furlani the 4-foot-9 and Moncada the gigolo. They are all villains that have been harming Milan’s wellbeing.

  4. Smart move not to bring him in January.
You’ll spend 3 million to bring him 6 months early just so he can watch the games like the rest of us, only from the bench. Pioli won’t play him anyway.
    Same with a striker.

  5. LOLOLOLO. How embarrassing we cannot even pay 3M to secure a solid LB for Theo. Wow. TY Redbird. Can’t wait till Theo goes down with injury or is suspended or has to play CB and we are short yet again on the left side – you know – what has already happened this year.

When are the Redbird lovers gonna get it – these guys are not motivated in winning titles – only making profit. That means just doing enough to qualify for UCL each year. And along the way IF we happen to overachieve and win a league title – fine. If not, oh well as long as that $$ comes rolling in. And if we don’t qualify for UCL it’s sale of a major asset – Mike is next – to buy young cheap talent to resell for profit and buy some vets at bargain prices with questionable history (consistency, injury) and pending free agents (cause you know they are free – but they still have to want cheap salaries) so we can stay in the fight for 4th spot. Excellent business model – like Atalanta – but not so much of you are a historical club that wants to win trophies.

  6. I seldom comment over transfers but this news(if true) is sad. Our defense is currently in shatters and we have a great opportunity to buy a proper backup for a small amount. I am sure that this will onlh help us. But, our current owners seems uninterested in improving full back backups at all. And, our coach hardly tries to promote any youngster in the team. He only plays young players when we have no other option. I see Real, Arsenal, Barca also persisiting with young players but Pioli cannot groom players. Then we should follow Inter. Thr finances are poor but they keep replacing players with proven players. Either pay the transfer amount or pay moderately high salary. Else this policy of saving a few millions by buying cheap or discarded players wont take us anywhr. All the good players on bosman transfer would go to higher paying teams. We have already seen this before.
