AC Milan will now look to sign a central defender, as Fabrizio Romano has stated, after the signing of Goncalo Ramos.
There are several areas needing investment at Milan and a central defender is one of the key positions of focus. Indeed, in a three-man defence, there needs to be more depth at least, but the quality can also be raised.

So, after signing Ramos, the focus is now shifting to signing a defender capable of playing a big role in that back three.
Whether sales will be made to facilitate the move is something else entirely. However, it seems that ideas are in place for how Ruben Amorim wants to set up his team moving forward.
Central defender next
Speaking on his YouTube channel, via MilanNews, Romano has discussed what the next step is for the Rossoneri.
“AC Milan, however, isn’t stopping there [signing Ramos], because during recent internal meetings involving Ruben Amorim, the next priority—we’ll see later, because he himself dictates the transfer market—also involves a central defender.
“After the striker, in the initial meetings, even before Amorim officially became AC Milan’s coach, still being evaluated by Cardinale, he had said they wanted to sign a strong striker, hence the Gonçalo Ramos deal.
“Now Amorim’s recommendation has shifted to a defender. I mean, I hear several names being discussed, but the defender is one of the priorities, even more than the midfielder, in chronological order.
“It’s not out of the question that AC Milan could sign both, but the defender is 100% Ruben Amorim’s priority. This will be worked on, various options will be evaluated, but the Portuguese coach wants to add a player there, a top-quality defender, for his 2026/27 version of AC Milan.
“From there, Milan’s next efforts will be concentrated, both from an economic point of view as well as in the search for the right profile.”
Romano also discussed the links to Marc Casado, though it seems signing a defender is the big priority.

Which defender can Mendes make the most money from?
Inacio – LCB
Antonio Silva – RCB
Tiago Gabriel CCB sub for Gabbia
Diogo Leite – LCB sub for Inacio
Nuno Tavares – LWB
Tiago Santos – RWB
Sell:
Pavlovic 50M
Tomori 20M
Ronaldo up front?
I won’t mind to see Silva and Tavares
To sell Pavlovic ?….you’re kidding now right
40mil for Inacio suddenly looks like chicken feed…
Scalvini and Kayode.
Would be great but I think Kayode is wanted by big PL sides. So I dont think we have a chance to get him now. A bit like Tonali , once theyre successful in that world they move out of our orbit.
I would go for Thiago Gabriel from Lecce.
Antonio Silva makes to many errors.
Thiago Gabriel is more elegant, better defender overall, he’s smart in the game , better positioning.
They are 21 and 22 – they will both make mistakes.
Gabriel! All day
