‘Completely focused on Milan’ – Romano confirms two stars will renew soon

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the news doing the rounds claiming that AC Milan have agreed contract extensions with Mike Maignan and Tijjani Reijnders.

Numerous sources have suggested in the past few days that Maignan and Reijnders are on the verge of putting pen to paper and prolonging their current deals with Milan, which expire in 2026 and 2028 respectively at present.

According to Romano, Maignan is indeed set to sign new deal with the Rossoneri until June 2029,  because there is an ‘agreement in place’. He also adds in the tweet that Christian Pulisic will extend his contract too.

In a separate update, the journalist adds that Rejinders ‘will sign a new five year deal at AC Milan soon’, as he revealed in October. The Dutchman is ‘completely focused on Milan’ and his salary will be improved as part of the new terms.

It is very much a fitting reward for both players, starting with the French goalkeeper who remains among the best in his position and seems to have regained his best form after a shaky 2023-24. In addition, he is without doubt a leader in the dressing room too.

Reijnders meanwhile has been outstanding since arriving from AZ Alkmaar but in particular this season when it comes to end product. With seven goals and three assists to his name already, he has been a shining light in a turbulent campaign.

    1. The management should fire the coach and get a sporting director.
A clear-cut strategy should be established (if not already) and be communicated to the players. What are our ambitions ? In how many years we would see a consistent scudetto winning team ? A UCL contender ?… The players need to be aware of this as well, so they can understand what is asked from them.
We (or rather the SD) need to determine the key elements of the team: Reijnders, Leao, Pulisic, Maignan, Theo, Fofana, Gabbia,… and something has to be done about the others, who do we keep and who do we sell.
What is our playing style and what is this team built for ? These need to be answered BEFORE targeting new players and finally an ambitious coach needs to replace Fonseca.

      1. Apparently we had a Sporting Director this whole time that no one took seriously. LOL!!!

But yes, the management is disjointed. Three separate entities instead of a Marotta figure to tie it all together. Not even sure what Ibra does – posts cryptic tweets when the team does well but nothing when he has to sneak into the party of the company he’s supposedly the boss at.

        F*ckin’ Pus*y.

      1. 100% and with this management its hard to say what the true intention is… But I suppose it protects them either way. Longer contract means higher buyout.
