Romano: ‘Final round of talks’ – Milan and Spurs ‘on the verge’ of agreeing €15m deal

AC Milan and Spurs are expected to have another round of talks today and they are expected to close a deal for Emerson Royal, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The management are continuing to work to close other incoming deals after Alvaro Morata and Strahinja Pavlovic arrived, and the right-back position is one that they are seemingly looking to address.

According to the latest from Fabrizio Romano, Milan and Tottenham are set for a ‘final round of talks’ to close the operation today, one which is likely to be a deal worth €15m as a fixed fee.

That is the amount which the London club have always held out for and there will be bonuses on top, with Romano adding that the Brazilian is ‘on the verge of becoming a new Milan player’.

The former Real Betis and Barcelona defender will compete with Davide Calabria for a starting spot on the right side of the defence, and it has been reported that he was a specific request from Paulo Fonseca.

Royal is a man looking for a bounce back season. In the last Premier League campaign he almost halved his starting appearances with Tottenham, from 20 to 11, after being important under Antonio Conte.

  1. Hopefully he rediscovers his Betis form, because I’m not in favor of this transfer based on what I saw from him in Tottenham.
Maybe he will be this years Pulisic, who rediscovered his Dortmund form after 3 misareble years at Chelsea.

  2. Ah yes, the third ‘final round’ of negotiations. Would prefer a loan but I think he has the right characteristics to work, so hopefully the coach can do his thing with him. A lot of good players have struggled at Tottenham so let’s see.

  3. I like how its highlighted that he was a specific request from Fonseca. so if things go bust…we know who had betters options and chose him instead.
where’s the DM we were promised. we are darting all over the place when our key defect has not been fixed? the goals scored against us still show the same trends.

    1. Yeah I’ve mentioned before that ETH “specifically requested” 🇧🇷 Antony from Ajax, which has been a waste of €85mn.

Specific requests from coaches should be taken with some appropriate caution…

  4. Yeii, great to see Milan do great business in every transfer window. This one will be your Milan next cafu. In his dream ofc. Lol
