Emerson Royal has ended up at the top of AC Milan’s wish list for the right-back position. After the first offer was rejected, the Rosoneri are now preparing a new offer and the player is pushing for the move, a report claims.
A few days ago, it was reported that Milan’s offer of €14m for the Brazilian full-back was rejected, with Tottenham asking for around €20m. Since then, the Rossoneri have been evaluating their options and it seems they will make a new attempt.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Milan are preparing a new offer which will be worth over €15m. This should be presented next week as talks continue between the clubs. The player, meanwhile, wants the move and has already agreed on a five-year contract.
It remains to be seen if Milan can get the deal over the line, with the management keen on securing a strong right-back for Paulo Fonseca. The captain Davide Calabria has struggled in recent years, at least in terms of consistency, and it will be interesting to see his reaction.
Should Emerson Royal arrive and become the starting right-back, then the captain’s armband will be worn by Theo Hernandez instead.

Why are we improving our bids for such a shocking player? The is management playing hardball/moneyball with potentially good players…. but if that’s the case then also play hardball with guys like Emerson who literally no other decent club wants.

We have Calabria, Florenzi, Kalulu, Teraciano, Jimenez for RB. But yet they want to waste 15+ mil on this guy. Then they will complain how they are 5mil short to sign someone that we really need.

And you see thats bad management. When you have so many RB you should at least find one that will cover Calabria and spend the money where its really needed. Exmpl, sign a starter CB cause that was one of our weakest points last year and give Kalulu the RB spot which is more suitable for him. DM,CF,CB are the positions that we need to focus on.

Milan were linked to David and Santos for a good period and you’d feel that the interests/rumors will get stronger after the players then coach gets appointed at Milanello, instead the news started getting quieter exactly the same time Fonseca’s name started picking up as the next head coach of Milan. Tho I’m not big on David, strange if Fonseca would prefer other players to them given the difference in quality between the front runners and the Lille duo are not that big if anything. Santos is younger would cost and earn less than Emerson therefore more suited to the project and seemingly more ideal for Fonseca’s bold football. The guy gets the experience and the physicality which is said to be important to Fonseca but Calabria(realistically don’t see him leaving) can cover the experience part while I believe fullback is were you can do with least physicality of such. Anyway it looks a strange timing abandoning the Santos.

First, they signed the only option available for the coach that could rally make you doubt that it was an improvement over Pioli and now followed up with quite possibly the only RB option available that isn’t an improvement over Calabria, not sure how the management made that possible, but they did! Great job guys, it wasn’t easy at all, you really outdid yourselves 🙌🏻
