Romano: Milan have €40m Zirkzee deal as ‘priority’ over RB Leipzig sensation

By Oliver Fisher -

Fabrizio Romano has revealed some interesting news regarding Benjamin Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee amid AC Milan’s pursuit of a new striker.

During his latest Daily Briefing column for CaughtOffside, Romano confirms that Sesko is the target for ‘many top clubs around Europe’ given that he has scored 12 goals since January, at an average of one goal involvement in every game he’s started since then.

Chelsea are keen on the Slovenia international as per the journalist, but Arsenal, Manchester United and many other clubs are interested too. RB Leipzig ‘want to try to keep the player’ and have reached out to his agents with the ‘important proposal of a new contract’.

They have offered up an ‘important salary and with the project being built around the young forward’, but now it is up to the played to make a decision on where he sees his future, given the level of clubs that are keen on him.

Romano also added a bit at the end regarding Milan’s hunt for a new centre-forward, stating that they are working on a different deal as we also reported.

“AC Milan have also been linked with Sesko, but their priority is Joshua Zirkzee, who has a release clause at Bologna of just €40m. He’s been fantastic and is available for a very decent price.”

    1. Yes mine too.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he stays where he is.
He is young and growing well.

You can’t imagine him joining the circus at Chelsea or Man Utd.
Arsenal would be a valid option

But Leipzig have put together a super talented young team (we could learn a thing or two from them), so I doubt he is in a rush to leave

      1. Yeah it wouldnt come as a surprise to me either if he stays there for another season or two but I sure would love to see him in our shirt.

Yeah arsenal certainly would be a better fit for him or most other players. I’ll give chelsea one thing though and that is that they really striked gold by signing Cole Palmer this year, what a buy that turned out to be.

They have done well with their setup and if they can start to keep their best players they have a great potential to grow further in the coming years.

    2. His release clause increase to 65m euro . Forget him. All serie A club cannot buy him too . Only EPL club can pay that amount money

      1. Yeah i know but thats also why i said that at this point he is well above our means. I would just hope we had brought him in at the start of this season as he could have been a good understudy for giroud and then lead the attack in the 24-25 season.

        1. Zirkzee it’s too similar to Okafor in his game I’d rather have a target man like Sesko that can score goals than build up play .

    3. Technically he is not above our means. BUT I agree with you that unfortunately with our owners 65M isn’t happening. I’m not sure 40M would either unless Bologna are willing to accept Salad and Columbo to lower the cash $$ payment

      1. Well i think it depends on how many holes we wanna plug with reasonable acquisitions but sure big expensive transfers seems beyond the ownerships modus operandi.

      2. ACM can pay 40m euro without player including, money from CDK sale + maybe maignan ( cannot give GK 8m euro nett salary ) can fund zirkzee transfer fee. There is many player can be sell but maybe tough to get buyer like saladmaker, origi, ballo toure, colombo, nasti, pelegrino

  1. Sesko is going somewhere for bigger money than that. Hopefully he goes to Arsenal so they’re not interested in Zirksee.

  2. Sesko is a bit of a hot and cold player. 5 goals in all competitions in the first half of the season isn’t remarkable. When he isn’t on form he’s abysmal, consistency is what we need dearly. He’s a bit of a Piatek.

    1. Wrong in every possible ways. Sesko draws in at least 3 defenders with him every time RBL attacks. Took a while for RBL to utilize that strength. And he is only 20

  3. Wrong in every possible ways. Sesko draws in at least 3 defenders with him every time RBL attacks. Took a while for RBL to utilize that strength. And he is only 20.

    1. Everybody prefer Sesko, but he’s gonna cost around 65-70m and Milan can’t pay that sum while every team in Premier could snatch that offer.
