Romano: Milan hold ‘advantage on the price’ as Fofana is pushing for move

By Isak Möller -

Youssouf Fofana has accepted AC Milan’s proposal and is now pushing for the move, which gives the Rossoneri an advantage in the negotiations with Monaco. This was reported by Fabrizio Romano earlier today.

Milan have been evaluating several defensive midfielders since the end of the 2023-24 season, hoping to restore some balance in the team, and Fofana now appears to be one step away. The Rossoneri ‘just’ need to reach an agreement with Monaco.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Milan already have an agreement with the player who wants the move, having accepted the contract terms put forward. Negotiations are ongoing between the Rossoneri and Monaco, who rejected €30m from Nottingham Forrest recently.

However, since the player is pushing for a move to Milan and only has one year left on his contract, an agreement will likely be reached at a lower price. This was added by Romano in a follow-up tweet, stating that the Rossoneri obviously have ‘an advantage on the price’.

One that will be very happy with the 25-year-old’s arrival is Paulo Fonseca who, in the meantime, will be working behind closed doors at Milanello as per Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s orders.

    1. So what happens, if a club comes in to say they are willing to pay €40m for him wtf do you want us to do ? You where not blind last season when we had already made proposal to Reinders nd Barcelona came in nd he told them no he had chosen MILAN, when you have integrity that’s what you do, you can’t expect MILAN to be acting like fools, if a player or agent change there stance the best option is to always move to other targets because if you force the deal through you always have more problems ahead when they wsnt to renew, the club will be held ransom again nd again, so let this management work in peace.

  1. Even if we assume we have an advantage, the fact that they rejected “recently” 30M€ they’re certainly not going to settle for much less than 30M€.
Yes his contract expires in less than a year, but they can be stubborn and stupid. In any case I don’t see Fofana worth more than 22M€ (at most 25M€). Perhaps start at around 18-20M€.

    1. I was thinking the same, it doesn’t really add up. They rejected 30mil from Nottingham but suddenly will be ok with 8milion euro less just because player would be more happy? That would be expensive happiness then. Unless they really want to make some money on him and he is stubborn to accept only Milan.

    2. That 30m euro was last year offer ( fofana have 2 years contract at that time) . Now are different because fofana only have 1 years contract and already agree term salary with ACM . 20m euro + bonus 2-3m euro probably already enough to bring fofana

    1. Someone with no business experience at all.

You dont go into a negotiation and say “how much do you want, sky is the limit.”

You go in low to find out where they are at and move up from there.

      This isnt FIFA

      1. @Moderation: do you really have no intention of doing anything about this posters’ comments. I’ve seen comments deleted or not posted for X and Y reasons and this individual seems to get a free pass to insult everyone left and right.

  2. With this tempo of negotiations there’s a chance we might get him for free next year. But it’s much more likely someone else will just pay 22-25 and we will switch to another target.

  3. What is happening to my beloved AC Milan, later you will hear nothing but discount discount and another tagged will come before you know it the season has started
