Romano: Milan agree personal terms with RB Salzburg defender – the next step

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have reached an agreement with Strahinja Pavlović over personal terms and are now working on a deal with Red Bull Salzburg.

According to what is being reported by Fabrizio Romano, Milan have reached a verbal agreement with the entourage of Pavlović over what would be a ‘long-term deal’ for the central defender. Negotiations are now underway with RB Salzburg to sort the package and final fee.

Romano adds that Milan are also still in talks with with Spurs for Emerson Royal and Monaco for Youssuf Fofana as they look to continue to bolster the defence and midfield after a season in which too many goals were conceded.

Pavlovic is a left-footed central defender – something missing from the current squad – as well as being young at 23 years of age. However, he has notable experience in the Champions League with Salzburg and in the World Cup and European Championship with Serbia, who he starts for.

There have been some stories regarding the potential sale of Fikayo Tomori or Malick Thiaw, but it feels more as though Pavlovic is seen as a replacement for Simon Kjaer, who departed at the end of last season when his contract with the Rossoneri expired.

  1. A believable source, interesting – can’t imagine the negotiation with Leipzig U23s will be easy though. Anyone seen any figures mooted?

  2. I don’t follow the guy. Can anyone tell me what’s the difference between him and thiaw? Other than he’s left footed

    1. Just seems like a better player. He’s stronger and more physical and plays with a lot more experience. I would say it is a very good move but if Milan has enough money to get Zirkzee, I would want to keep Thiaw and get Pavlovic.

    2. He’s a demon in the air and he’s really physical because he’s 1.94 meters and he’s good on the ball and he’s really good at tackling

    3. The guy is a beast, he reminds me of John Terry nd also Jam Stam nd as much as I like Bourgirno nd Calafiori this guy for me looks solid nd rugged nd yet tidy when I saw him at this Euros I was wondering why is MILAN not going towards this guy as soon as I saw Romano report it, I can’t wait till we complete this deal

      1. Is this sort of tampering even allowed though? Usually, one would at the very least ask for permission of the club to do so – as an act of goodwill. I just assumed they already did.

        1. Permission around now is probably quite easy. I thought permission is moreso outside of the transfer window. My feeling is that these things slide more than we think

    1. This is where Milans reputation is being ruined. You cant do business that way for long and not expect people to refuse you in future.

Clubs must ask permission to negotiate with players.
Normally this is done after they have been informed of the price (perhaps there is a little haggling to be done).

What is not done, is sending the [player to their parent club, looking to force a move and reducing transfer fee.
This will result in a whole group of agents and clubs that refuse to deal with us on both purchases and worse, sales!!

  3. Ac milan agree personal terms HOWEVER player goes ELSE WHERE.

I wonder if the 40 MILL the club was going to part with for zikzee will ever show it self again?

Has Redbird paid Elliot there 600 mill for the club yet?

  4. If we actually manage Fofana, Morata and Pavlovic in next 10 days, there will be few players left to add later on.

J.David is a must imo, the whole situation with Adli, Thiaw and Pobega must be decided, if they leave we should sign Bove (1 year left and under-10M deal can be made), Ricci and Kiwior (after Arsenal finalize Calafiori, he should be an easy steal and can also play LB).

    GK: Maignan, Sportiello, Nava
    RB: Calabria, Kalulu, Terraciano
    CB: Tomori, Pavlovic, Kiwior, Gabbia
    LB: Theo, Jimenez
CM/CDM: Fofana, Bennacer, Musah, Bove, Ricci
    CAM: Reijnders, RLC, Maldini
    RW: Pulisic, Chukwueze
    LW: Leao, Okafor
    ST: J.David, Morata, Jovic

  5. Next steps : Milan make a ridiculous low offer to Salzburg. Salzburg reject that offer. Milan, takes his time, observe and…surprise 😆😆 : Milan beffato ! What a surprise…😆😆

  6. So I guess this is the time for articles like :
    “Pavlovic only wants Milan”
“Milan is confident to close the deal in the next days”
“Salzburg rejects Milan offer but the management is confident”,
” X club is interested by Pavlovic but Milan is still confident because Pavlovic only wants Milan”
“X club offers 30M€ and Milan is thinking of alternatives”

  7. I have seen him only a few times. On paper he has the right profile: left footed, good passing and ball progression, very dominant physically. Not sure if he is a player comfortable defending with a lot of space behind, as Fonseca said he wants to defend high up. But if you pair it with a faster CB like Tomori or Kalulu it seems a balanced pair.

  8. Let’s get it over the line. Under 20mil is a steal. 20 isn’t too bad. Over 20mil and Milan will start re-evaluating.

  9. Ya ya sure…..of course we agreed to terms w the player we usually always do. The issue is agreeing to terms with the club or agent lol

Let’s see how that goes, esp with RB Salzburg- if this kid was a gem – no way RB Leipzig lets him get away.

    1. Milan needs this Player. But worry will start when EPL clubs alike Chelsea and Spurs Circle round to Get him too. They will surely double.or triple the Offer Milan has Agreed with Player. RB wants 30m. Milan offer of 20m was rejected.

  10. Well ACM already agree term with many player before but only few success. Yes they have agreement with fofana ,emerson, pavlovic but that means nothing if they cannot get agreement with seller club

  11. People on here acting as if we have never talked with RB Salzburg before. We’ve done business with them before, so there is some history there. Some seem to have crystal balls. Can you guys give me the megamillion numbers too?
