Romano: Milan ‘working on a deal’ to sign Premier League defender in January

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are working on a deal to sign Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly in the January transfer window, the journalist Fabrizio Romano is reporting.

Milan have found themselves in a crisis at the back with Simon Kjaer struggling to stay fit for a long stretch of games, Pierre Kalulu out for the next four months after surgery on a tendon problem and Marco Pellegrino out for up to six weeks after fracturing a bone in his foot.

That leaves Stefano Pioli with just Fikayo Tomori and Malick Thiaw to call upon for the time being, though Kjaer is expected back next week, and this has led to talk of a possible intervention in January.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s latest update on CaughtOffside’s Substack, Milan are plotting a move to sign Kelly from Bournemouth as early as the winter transfer window.

The Englishman is considered to be an interesting option not only for the future given he is only 25 but also for right now. Juventus are also being kept informed as Kelly is out of contract in 2024 with no option to extend with the Cherries.

    1. he is cheap, can play cb and lb, salary 1.8M€ gross, has decent potential, with tomori integration will be easier.
      Makes sense
He’s also used to wearing red and black if that counts for anything 😀

          1. I saw him when he was at Newcastle also Bournemouth is one position before relegation and that says it all he is not good

      1. With cheap players we aren’t going nowhere 😭 and it’s true I’m not saying to spend crazy but at the same time we should spend on single target with good budget not all our transfer budget but find players that has stats for 30-40 m tbh also one question why we didn’t even try for parisi? Only 15 m and Italian also CB? He’s 1,78 cm very short for CB like kalulu not good
