Romano: Milan leading Morata race while two right-backs are evaluted

By Oliver Fisher -

Fabrizio Romano has provided a brief update on AC Milan’s summer targets, confirming that they lead the race for Alvaro Morata.

Romano posted a tweet this afternoon saying that Steven Gerrard’s new club Al Ettifaq are the Saudi Arabian team who are most interested in Morata, but Milan ‘are keen on signing him and leading the race’.

The centre-forward position is one that Milan simply must address this summer given that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has retired and Divock Origi struggled last season thus forcing Olivier Giroud to work overtime.

Meanwhile, in a separate tweet, the journalist confirmed that Milan have Wilfried Singo on their list of right-back targets and have done since last week.

He remains a concrete option in the eyes of the Rossoneri management. Both Singo and Real Valladolid’s Iván Fresneda are being considered by Milan as options to replace Sergino Dest and perhaps provide more reliable cover than Alessandro Florenzi.

    1. Yeah, I wouldn’t worry. Giroud is well used to warming the bench for Morata…It will be a familiar scenario for him…

  1. Milan after juve fan who ignore Milan for juve. pls Milan have little sense we don’t need morata, why not elye Wahi, Boniface, icardi is better and will be lethat against inter. but Milan will probably regret not signing KAMADA

  2. The names imthat we are chasing are just depressing!
What would morata add? He is not the young guy with room to explode, and he is not the experienced head that can add winning mentality to the team like ibra or giroud

    1. Morata + Chuk.
Morata isn’t as bad as people wanna portray him.
Is he a volume scorer? No.
But he works hard, presses hard and his movement and hold up play, in and outside of the box will open up a lot of opportunities for the wingers or midfielders late runs in the box to score goals.
He knows the league, unlike some young player from France who might need a year or 2 to adjust.
At the end it all depends on the price. If we can get him around 15 mil he’ll be good for few years

      1. Morata is probably the worst striker to ever play the game. Period.
15M plus 5M salary.. yeah, a great deal.
Remember lord Bendtner? Morata is worse.
Might as well keep Colombo and have him learn from Giroud and deputy for him. He did do only 1500 minutes last season, origi did 1100.
        Salad as 3rd striker

      2. Agree with this, he’s basically a similar player to Giroud and the best option to just replace him in the same tactical approach

    2. If the rumour pioli change formation to 433 are true, we dont need kamada anymore. My choice orsolini 10m euro + balogun 30m euro . Balogun are american ,that whats gery & RedBird like an american striker . But for morata big no , i will choose use lazetic / colombo rather than him

  3. Just to be clear, Moratta isn’t free. He still has 1 yr. left at Atletico Madrid. In comparison, Icardi also has 1 yr. left at PSG and is valued at the same price. I still think the Icardi/Lopez thing was a wrong move from Icardi, but as a player, I’d choose him over Moratta 9/10 times.

  4. Why are some comments deleted? Not just mine, but the 2 or 3 above. Is it a bug or something personal? lmao
