Romano: Milan move forward in Loftus-Cheek talks with agreement over ‘long term contract’ close

AC Milan are close to agreeing personal terms with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and are confident they will strike a deal with Chelsea, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Romano has published an update on his Twitter profile confirming that Milan are ‘close’ to finding an agreement with Loftus-Cheek over what would be a ‘long term contract’ after direct contacts were started two weeks ago.

In addition to that, talks between Milan and Chelsea are ongoing to reach a full agreement over a transfer fee, given it would be a permanent deal with the midfielder’s current contract running out in June 2024.

The journalist add that ‘all parties are hopeful and optimistic’ that everything gets agreed, with Milan needing midfield reinforcements after Ismael Bennacer’s injury and Chelsea under pressure to offload players.

The Blues have had a disappointing campaign and must trim the squad down after spending big both last summer and in the January transfer window.
