Romano: ‘Here we go!’ – Milan agree deal worth over €18m for Pavlovic

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are set to get their second summer signing over the line as a deal has been agreed for Strahinja Pavlovic with Red Bull Salzburg, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Milan have been linked with a number of different centre-backs since the start of the summer given the need to bolster a defensive department that struggled last season and also lost Simon Kjaer who departed when his contract expired.

It quickly became apparent that Pavlovic was the favoured name. The 23-year-old has impressed during his time in Austria and also played in the European Championship as a started for Serbia.

He is young, has the potential to grow further, is left-footed and more of a physical mould, which means he ticks virtually every box the management were looking for.

According to the latest from Fabrizio Romano, Pavlović to Milan now has ‘here we go!’ status. A deal is now in place for Serbian centre-back to join from Salzburg and become the second summer reinforcement.

A long-term deal was agreed with the player days ago and he ‘strongly wanted’ to join the Rossoneri. The package will be worth more than €18m in terms of transfer fee, with the details to be clarified soon.

    1. I feel like we let Ugarte slip away.
The man is statistically BY FAR the best defensive midfielder in the Top 5 leagues.
60 million is not a small amount, but having saved 27 million on the striker deal, plus the 20 million for Samardzic (who is a very good player, but not one that we desperately need), I feel like we could’ve gone for Ugarte.
At 23 years of age, it would’ve been one hell of an investment.

      1. You can’t save money you didn’t have in the first place. Unless some heavy sell happens Milan isn’t able to spend 60M or 50M or 40M or 30M for a player. Even 25M is pushing it

        1. If you repeat a lie a thousand times, it’s still a lie. Milan agreed to pay the €40 million buy out for Zirkzee. If they wanted to sign a player for €50 million, they could have. The budget it €80 million before any sales.

          1. They agreed? Show.me the signed check. Jesus you people are naive and just plain stupịt.

You read something in a media and act with that info like its a fact. It’s not. It was made up for clicks.

The budget, at best, was 30M€. Like always

          2. A post by ACM1899 few days ago
“There was an interview published with Vito Angele done by The Italian Football Podcast. If you have not checked out this podcast, highly recommended.

Here are some of the key points from Vito:

            – The turnaround on Zee was NOT due to commissions. It was a pivot (although not specifically said) after a meeting with management and coach. My guess is Fonseca likely pushed for a classic 9. Also it was mentioned that it was a budget issue with being able to reinforce more positions by NOT spending that money on Zee.”
So basically if Milan paid 40M€ or 50M€ for Zirkzee, they would have to abandon some of the other targets.
In other words the budget was never 80M€.

          3. “If you repeat a lie a thousand times, it’s still a lie.”

So where did you get the 80 million from? Official source at AC Milan club? This is an assumed number. The only thing any of us have to go by is history, and the history of this ownership is that every summer the cash budget before sales is 50M. You may be thinking 80M because it assumed 30M from the sales of CDK and Salad, but the CDK money isn’t arriving until 2025, and Salad looks poised to stay. So as of right now, it’s more likely to have been 50M than anything else. Subtract 13M for Morata and add 3M for Simic and it stands at 40M. Pavlovic is apparently arriving for 18M plus bonuses so that leaves about 22M for Fofana, which actually seems like a fair number for him. Finally, there is Royal at 14-15M. So someone(s) will still need to be sold. It’s rumored that Adli is being valued at that amount, interestingly.

        2. Do you have like some sort of hmmm…how to say it… special kink for being insulted and that’s why you post here in the hopes that someone will give you that satisfaction?? It’s okay if you have a kink for that, nothing to be ashamed of

        3. Correction: we CAN spend it – we are just to cheap to do it lol – and it goes against our 20M per player transfer cap

  1. Really good news, hopefully he can add steel to our CB department.

Unfortunately it looks like we will still sign Emerson Royal, even after news that Fonseca liked Kalulu on RB.. why not just dump some of the 15m we are supposed to pay for Emerson to Fofana. We need him more. RB is stacked with a lot of players.

If Royal really come I hope it’s already discussed with Fonseca and not only because management see him as opportunity.

    1. How many of those players that the RB position is stacked with are worth a damn?
In 2 pre season games we saw zero minutes of Kalulu as a RB.
Florenzi is probably missing half the season.
So who are these players that make the RB position stacked?

      1. They will end up buying average player in that department and leave us thinking of reinforcement next summer instead of doing it once and for all.

      2. Completely agree, I’ve seen so many comments saying we have RBs already, who are they exactly? Because for me we have been playing without a good RB for many years

        1. We been playing with a good rb for many many years. You wouldn’t know a good rb if he came and kicked you in the head. Emerson, now that’s what you can call a not good rb

          1. Oh it’s you again hahah, did you see how a 16yrs old academy player from City sent your beloved Calabria to buy some hod dogs on that second goal? You should put a poster of him on bedroom wall after that beautiful defensive display… I think you were kicked in the head when you’re very young it would explain a lot

          2. Also I think you didn’t even need to get a kick. Your was born a bit slower than the rest of us. Good day, cûnt

        1. Wow you were capable of forming sentences!! congrats!! Go to bed now, please you must be tired from all that intense thinking

      3. Then what was the point of Terracciano, Jimenez,…
Many here were salivating for Calafiori and forgot that he was pretty much a non-rated player before Motta developped him and yet no-one seems to be willing to give a chance to young players were acquired.
The grass is always greener on the other side.

      4. Young players needed chance to prove their worth.

Alex Jimenez is already 19. We already see that he has potential last season – he is really attacking. If we need attacking fullback, we can give him chance – many young fullback flourished because they are given many playing time from young age.

TAA, Ivan Fresneda, Connor Bradley, Kayode, Livramento, Thiago Santos, Joe Scally to name a few.

If we really need to buy, we need someone that is clear upgrade from what we already have.

Kalulu, I think after Pahlovic join Fonseca will try him on the Right.

Terraciano also deserved some chance on the right side. So far he played at left, not his natural position. And he already 21.

    2. Fofana isn’t a DM, so he’s not really needed, not should we pay over €20 million for a player with a year left on his contract.

    1. Bennacer doesn’t seem to be going anywhere and is currently the closest thing we have to a DM. With Fofana, that makes 2 DM’s.

  2. Good. I hope he can live up to the hype. We desperately need a top left footed CB; hopefully this guy is the one. Certainly has the physical aspect down, but it will probably take him a lot of time to adjust to serie a tactics.

  3. Very good deal. So who Will leave then ? Gabbia & Tomori were the best CB past season. Thiaw & Kalulu were a short-time wonder.

Kalulu already taken no. 5 for next season (but his performances at 2 Friendly was awful, Gabbia pr Tomori should take no. 5 than Kalulu), so Will Thiaw leave now ?

  4. Great news, now lets focus on DMC, and we will be sufficient to face the next season. Another signings from DMC for now will be more like complements or upgrade, which surely why not. But please please… DMC should be priority now.

  5. I don’t share the same hype for this signing that others do, and yes I’ve seen all the YT highlights everyone else has too. I feel we needed a different profile like Todibo, even Hummels for a year or two or not buying Emerson Royal and investing in getting Buongiorno or Scalvini (this is professional, elite football, spare me the “yeah but they only know how to play on a 3 CB defense” spiel, specially when they are still so young in their career and have shown great potential). Having said that, I hope he makes me change my mind, he’s a Milan player now so welcome to the team and all my support to him.

    1. You don’t even know what player is still available on the market, let alone what type of cb we actually need

      1. Shut up dweeb, we should have gone for those profiles right from the get go when they were available, and you know damn well they were because some of them have either been transferred to other clubs or about to, you’re just too dumb to understand that unless someone explains it to you with toys, and even then you’d struggle. The right profiles for you are whatever redbird gets because you’re not even a Milan fan you’re a Redbird fan, you’re just salty that people here can’t stand you because you’re always riding redbird’s cock, I would call you redbird’s b*tch but you’re not even worth that because you do that for free, not to mention the f*ck do YOU know about what’s available or not, I’m sure you also follow the Austrian League closely, try again and take the L dimwit, and maybe try to watch some actual football some day

        1. O little boy got so triggered he is following all my comments and going out of it’s way 2 insult me…

          Did I hit a nerve?

          Was I right?

Are you a clueless little cum sucker?

          Did mommy not love you?

  6. He reminds me of jaap stam.
A no non sense kind of player, old school type of defender.
And it’s very rare to see someone so big has speed like him.
