Ante Rebic Milan

Romano: Milan winger to complete Besiktas move worth €2m this weekend

Ante Rebic is set to leave the AC Milan experience behind him and join the Turkish side Besiktas. An agreement has been reached between the clubs and he transfer will be completed this weekend, a report claims.

The relationship between Rebic and Stefano Pioli deteriorated towards the end of last season, resulting in the Croatian getting excluded from the squad a couple of times. He was also excluded from this summer’s pre-season tour in the US.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Milan have reached an agreement with Benfica over a deal worth €2m in total, including bonuses. Rebic will sign a two-year deal with the Turkish side and should complete the move this weekend.

Milan will register a capital gain of around €2m, depending on the bonuses, but they will also save €9.18m gross in wages. That would have been two very expensive years for a player who isn’t even part of the project anymore.

  1. Well, good luck to Rebic from here. He had a couple of good seasons, but his injuries were too many and last season was plain bad. We’ll see what he does in Turkey.

  2. Thank you Ante.

Great fighter, also with this move he showed how he respect the club and also his career. Remember his goal against juventus in 3 0 win.

  3. What did we sign him for, iirc we swapped him for Andre Silva. So was it approx 35mn?

I know it’s unimportant now as the fee has been amortised over several years. Just interested.

    Good luck Ante.

    1. Not straight swap, that was 2 different transfer. Just like Chukwueze and Gabbia case.

We got him for €6.7m according to transfermarkt. And Andre Silva moved to Frankfurt for €3m.

      1. No. Milan got Tebic for 0, after he reached some achievements, bonuses were activated, so Milan paid 6,7 mil for bonuses.

  4. Benfica? They moved to Turkey now? 😅

Good luck Rebic. I’ll never forget that Juve game when Sczeny or however u spell his name said to u to keep quiet you’re two goals down and then we won 4-2😁😁😁. Magic.
Was great until Leao exploded and then I figured he didn’t like that as much and lost the trust of the coach.

    1. We don’t need that many RWs. Messias leaving is also necessary for the squad size and wage bill. Don’t we want to see Luka Romero get a chance?

    2. If Milan buy a CF(like Vidiz) there will be 6 players (okafor,Leao,Chuku,Pulisic,Giroud)for 3 spots . In this scenario Romero & Colombo would probably be loaned out as they would be too many.
Messias has definitely got to go as there is already no space for him and with him Origi(the worst on the wage bill).
De ketelaere remains the biggest mystery, he might still show in training that he wants to earn a place but on viewing Reijnders performance against Juve he will be behind him and Pulisic.
Saelemaekers is young and can play left & right position’s plus he is very popular in the team no need to go rather it’s florenzi who should go for me.

  5. He was great for us in the begining but i suspect he is the type of player that simply doesnt work very well playing second fiddle but im fairly confident that he will soon blossom up again with the turks, I believe besiktas wil do a fine deal and wish him all the best even though his tenure with us whent a bit sour towards the end.
