A new right-back could be one of the first signings that AC Milan make this summer and they are pushing ahead on a couple of fronts, according to Fabrizio Romano.
In our exclusive report about Tiago Santos in April, we stated that the management are looking for a new right-sided defender because of the fact Davide Calabria’s back-ups are the ageing Alessandro Florenzi and the untested Filippo Terracciano.
According to what is being reported by Fabrizio Romano, Milan ‘keep working’ on the signing of a new player for that particular position and Emerson Royal ‘remains a strong option’ alongside Tiago Santos.
He understands that Emerson ‘wants the move’ and is ‘keen on joining Milan’, while there are ‘no issues on personal terms’ meaning that the salary requests of the former Real Betis and Barcelona man will not be an issue.
Romano states that Tottenham want around €20m to sell Emerson, so now it is ‘up to the clubs’ to negotiate the transfer fee in the days and weeks ahead.
Emerson Royal has been repeatedly linked with Milan over the past few windows showing a long-standing interest from Geoffrey Moncada, but Santos is a profile that the incoming head coach Paulo Fonseca knows well given he gave him his break at Lille.
Player wants the move according to Fabrizio Romano but Milan will delay as usual.

Surely Di Lorenzo would be a better bet than this trash. He’s never good and I watch a lot of spurs
sure but Milan are not in the business of signing 30 yo for a “heafty” salary. Di Lorenzo is on 3M net. The Royal Emerson is on 1.3M net. And last but not least, the Tiago Santos is on 390k€.
Calabria is on 2M net and supposedly wants a raise & Florenzi, the super sub, is on 4M net.
So we see Milan is not about bringing in quality, they’re about downsizing the wage for some unknown reason. Its not like the club is still in 2019 and we need to do it. Sigh

This move makes no sense, and they need to address the real needs… CF and CDM. We’re fine with Calabria/Florenzi/Kalulu. €20m less to spend on someone good that we need…

Totally agree with Milanista. We have no need for an overrated RB! If we should invest, if either Calabria wont sign a new contract or Florenzi will leave, then we should sign Alessandro Zanoli (loanee from Napoli to Salernitana), he is young and fast (just ask Leao, who could not escape him) and cheap (valued at 5-6 mil).
