Romano: Milan working on signing Man Utd defender – ‘in the next days something could happen’

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are working on securing the return of Diogo Dalot from Manchester United and something could soon happen, Fabrizio Romano has claimed.

Speculation has been rife in the media that the Milan management are looking to bring the Portugal international back to the San Siro for at least another season after his loan spell in 2020-21. Dalot certainly found more playing time than in his previous seasons at United, and was a versatile option for head coach Stefano Pioli who played him both at right-back and at left-back.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the latest surrounding the future of the 22-year-old during his latest Twitch stream (via MilanXtra). He confirmed that Milan are still working to sign Dalot on loan with an option to buy included.

In addition to that, the well-known journalist also comments that ‘in the next days something could happen’ regarding Dalot.

  1. Milan already had Dalot on loan for the 2020/21 year, they know his abilities. There must be a loan fee, as his value will reduce in a years time because his contract will be one year closer to being over. His wages may be more than they would ordinarily pay, if he wants the move, he can offer a discounted wage for a year.
Best for Milan is to buy and spread the cost over 4 years – £ 4.5 million per season
