Fikayo Tomori re-joined training with his AC Milan teammates today and the defender’s situation has been analysed by mercato experts.
It is well known now that Tomori returned to the Milan squad due to their lack of an additional defender signing. Had they made another move in the mercato, maybe the Englishman wouldn’t have seen as much reason to stay and gamble on being re-introduced.

Nevertheless, they didn’t and his gamble paid off. Not even 48 hours after the mercato closed, he was brought back into training and the defender is also likely to be named in the squad list for the Europa League.
Tomori’s situation
Fabrizio Romano began the conversation about the central defender, speaking about the image of Ruben Amorim shaking the Englishman’s hand in training today, as MilanNews relays.
“The player was on the move throughout the summer transfer window, practically from June until Ruben Amorim’s arrival. This morning, the final confirmation of what we said at the end of the last transfer window arrived.
“We saw Tomori again in training: a handshake with Amorim, smiles… In short, things seem to be back to normal between the defender and AC Milan, but that’s a direct consequence of this transfer window.”
Then, his colleague Matteo Moretto added some information about the future. After all, his contract expires next summer, so it cannot be ignored like an elephant in the room…
“es, it’s a consequence, certainly. But I would look at what could happen now: it’s true that Tomori is back at Milan’s disposal and is once again a player 100% focused on his official Rossoneri commitments, but his contract expires in 2027.
“I think it’s difficult to predict a possible renewal after all the turmoil at the end of this transfer window. Meanwhile, the news is that a player who has made Milan’s recent history, winning a Scudetto and making numerous appearances for the Rossoneri, is back at the club’s disposal.”
Renewal for Tomori and RLC? For RLC?! Just sign three good players in January/February (DC, DMC / AMC and SC) and hope for the best.

It is as simple as that (if that was/is what you wanted to say/write), yes.
Essentially we just got a solid CB who knows the liga and the team on loan for one year with an option to buy. And we got it for no more money than we had already committed.
Seems like a pretty smart move to me. Tomorri already wanted to be here.
The ONLY concern I have is that he was named as a problem in the dressing room and that has yet to be resolved. He was clearly part of the clique that was problematic when Fonseca was here. So I’d like some sort of intel on why we believe he will not be a problem now.

Use him and RCL for squad depth and get a decent replacement come January and let them leave for free, for two seasons now Tomori has refused to move on. So leaving for free won’t end the world.

The good thing is that he would have a good ending after many years he has committed himself to the club. He will play his last game next year May with cheers from the fans.
At least he deserves that.
