Several players have been linked with AC Milan since the arrival of Ruben Amorim, but as highlighted by Fabrizio Romano, the Rossoneri have only focused on two priorities.
Once it became clear that Amorim would be the new head coach of Milan, several players emerged as potential targets, mostly Portuguese players. Some of his former Sporting men, like Morten Hjulmand, were even mentioned as concrete targets.

Francisco Trincao is another one, but as has been very clear in the last few weeks, Milan have only focused on two positions: centre-back and centre-forward. The latter is already complete, and the former is about to follow.
Only two priorities now
In his latest YouTube video, Fabrizio Romano explained that the likes of Hjulmand, Trincao, and Ugarte were never really targets of Milan. Instead, they were just mentioned because of Amorim, despite him prioritising two other signings.
“Let’s clear up some misunderstandings regarding Milan. After Amorim’s arrival, the names of several players who had worked with him began to circulate. It’s a classic. A coach arrives and the next day, many names are supposedly targets.
“The names linked with Milan were Ugarte, Hjulmand and Trincao. In reality, these names have never been hot or concrete for the Rossoneri. The reason is simple: from the first meeting, Amorim immediately made it clear that the priorities were the centre-forward and the defender.
“Ramos has arrived, the attack for Gila is ready, and Goncalo Inacio remains on Milan’s radar,” he stated.
That means Leao must stay obviously
It doesn’t mean that they won’t buy new CAM(or even couple) and that Leao won’t be sold- that’s pretty much a given, it only means that Trincao himself wasn’t a target for a team he is building.

How do you imagine a midfield with two left-footed players functioning, who else plays like that? Forget the midfield(s) with the 6 behind the “double pivot” because that’s not exactly the same thing and also forget about some improvisations and short-term solutions, that doesn’t interest me. Ardon could be a pretty solid backup but that’s all there is to it.

He only stated that the striker and defense are priority. If that is sorted. With sales of unwanted players they can now build the midfield and attacker behind the striker

Fabrizio Romano talking in circles again because he has no information. What he said was pure nonsense. I understand that English is not his first language so he’s forgiven.
But what he said means absolutely nothing. Basically Milan priority was to first get a top quality striker and then strengthen the defence.
Once that’s completed. They will focus on other areas such as the wingbacks and midfield. Hjlumand and Trincão will still likely arrive but they are not a priority at the moment. Simple.
Milan also still needs to buy another striker and that’s why we are linked to Taty Castellanos as Amorim requested him and west ham are relegated. So it’s likely we will go for him as a back up for Ramos.
Is that your take or do you have a source in the club? He is right about linking a new coach to his former players for transfers – Italian Media does it all the time.
As for other areas of need, I agree there are many, but how much is Gerry ultimately willing to invest in one window to back Amorim? That’s the real questiob.
