Romano: Pursuing old interests – Milan add French midfielder to their shortlist

By Ben Dixon -

It is common knowledge that AC Milan want to sign at least one new midfielder in the upcoming summer mercato, but there is a possibility that several could be signed, and a report has suggested an old interest has come back into the picture.

In recent weeks, Milan have struggled to conclude the proceedings for the Youssouf Fofana deal, and whilst there is still a lot of confidence among the management that he will sign, the fact that AS Monaco are difficult negotiators could lead the Rossoneri in other directions.

Earlier in the summer, it was stated that the Diavolo were confident they would eventually get the French midfielder, and maybe they might have to wait until next summer – when his contract expires – and whilst this may be frustrating, there is little to no point overpaying for a player whose deal is close to expiring.

Whilst the Monegasque midfielder could still sign this summer, the Diavolo are also keeping their options open, and today, a report from Fabrizio Romano has suggested that they are re-lighting an old spark.

As he reports on his X account, Milan have added Manu Kone to their shortlist. The interest is ‘concrete’ and he is ‘one of the names being considered’. There had been previous interest in the midfielder before he moved to Borussia Monchengladbach, and perhaps, he could be the solution to the midfield issues.

  1. He is not good and not worth the money it would be better to sign jhonny form real Bettie who is more defensive and much better, something that I’ve noticed with this terrible management is they like to sign players who had a good season like 1-3 years ago but suck now

  2. “Oh, the price is 20? Well, our offer is 6!”

Then the Redbird lovers say “you don’t understand good business!”

It’s almost August and we have one signing, one.

  3. Concrete interest until borusia 2.0 says they want 25M. Then we’re gonna offer 10M plus bonuses for total 13M.. exiting times

And then nothing will happen for about 4 weeks, then they’ll panic sign praet or sensi or pjanci. Pjanic is free agent. Who’d thought 🤔 ?

  4. Great except the player is valued around 20M€. And so far we’ve never offered more that 15M€ for any of our targets, and our most expensive player this summer costed 13M€, who also happens to be our only purchase this summer (aside from loaned players).
Also the dude pretty much plays in a 3-5-2 and when they play a 4-3-3, he plays as an 8, and his stats this seasons show him to be mostly a ball carrier, so I’m not so sure about him being such a good defensive midfielder.

(why was my comment unaproved ?)

  6. I think Moncada has had his eyes on this kid since his Touluse days. he’s great with his feet and moves the ball forward well. Not a bad DM. Good to keep your options open, but would be better to close out the Plan A (not at 35mil). maybe that ship has sailed…

  7. One funny thing is that I believe the management will do a great job because last season they did well we’ve only sign one player which is a good player for this team let the season start first
