Romano: Pursuing old interests – Milan add French midfielder to their shortlist

It is common knowledge that AC Milan want to sign at least one new midfielder in the upcoming summer mercato, but there is a possibility that several could be signed, and a report has suggested an old interest has come back into the picture.

In recent weeks, Milan have struggled to conclude the proceedings for the Youssouf Fofana deal, and whilst there is still a lot of confidence among the management that he will sign, the fact that AS Monaco are difficult negotiators could lead the Rossoneri in other directions.

Earlier in the summer, it was stated that the Diavolo were confident they would eventually get the French midfielder, and maybe they might have to wait until next summer – when his contract expires – and whilst this may be frustrating, there is little to no point overpaying for a player whose deal is close to expiring.

Whilst the Monegasque midfielder could still sign this summer, the Diavolo are also keeping their options open, and today, a report from Fabrizio Romano has suggested that they are re-lighting an old spark.

As he reports on his X account, Milan have added Manu Kone to their shortlist. The interest is ‘concrete’ and he is ‘one of the names being considered’. There had been previous interest in the midfielder before he moved to Borussia Monchengladbach, and perhaps, he could be the solution to the midfield issues.
