AC Milan want a new backbone in the midfield, and Granit Xhaka could be that player, it seems. With reports suggesting good things today.
There is a lot that needs to be studied about the business that Milan conduct this summer. After all, the management started the mercato at a disadvantage, failing to keep Tijjani Reijnders despite suggestions that he would stay.
So, there is a hill to climb. However, if the funds are allocated smartly and correctly, in the fans’ eyes, then there may be less haste.
Xhaka’s approval
Earlier today, it was reported that the top midfield target, Xhaka, wants to leave Germany with the Rossoneri pressing heavily to buy him this summer. Now, the latest update has arrived from Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel (via Milan News).
“Milan continues to work hard on Granit Xhaka: there are constant contacts with the entourage. The Swiss has already given important openings, and the agreement with the player in the contractual terms is proceeding very well. Then we will have to understand how and if to obtain the yes of Bayer Leverkusen, who have already lost Xabi Alonso, Tah, Wirtz and Frimpong.”
Of course, the hurdle with Bayer Leverkusen still needs to be worked out. Nevertheless, it is a big sign, and it bodes well from here on out.

No we don’t. We need players that can hit the pitch running and are solid. Xhaka is that and even 25 minutes a game Modric will give you a huge impact.

Xhaka has been playing nearly 50 games a season for three seasons now. Hasn’t been injured in 3-4 years. Sure I’d like Ricci too, but Xhaka is at a peak in his career.

Could be a great signing for a year or two – hopefully not a long contract that becomes a burden but a proper winner and leader we’ve been missing.
Ricci this, Frendrup that… none of them are proven at a high level and none of them are leaders. Even if we signed someone like that, they’d benefit immensely from playing with someone like Xhaka.

Playing and character wise brings things that Milan lacks.
If Inter or Napoli were trying to sign him, the same people that complain about Milan trying to sign him would complain about Milan not trying to sign.
When Napoli signs 34 De Bruyne, 32 Lukaku, 31 Spinazzola they are smart moves, but Milan signing 33 y Xhaka or 40 y Modric is considered retirement home, even though Milan doesn’t have a single outfield player 30 or older in the team.
You could spend 30 + mil on Ricci and you’ll get lesser player than Xhaka.

Modric at 40 will dog walk any serie A$$ midfielder. He was on Real Madrid’s bench not Napoli’s. He also played more minutes than the randos Buongiorno, Neves, Gilmour and just about the same amount of minutes as the serie A MVP. That shows you the quality of serie A, Scott Mctominay was an MVP in his 1st season in the league.
Stick to just naming rando players that Milan should sign and making fascinating silly lineups.

Xhaka hasn’t had an injury in nearly 4 years either. A quite fit player. Had some issue earlier in his career but shook that all off.
He’s had 100 appearances in two seasons. Should have at least two to three seasons left. So this is a player that does have his fitness. And class. But we really need to get this done.
So where is the planning signing more italian player that management shouted after the end of season? In the end it will be all foreigner replace theo, tiji and maybe leao ( bayern muenchen pressing hard to sign him due to nico williams choose barca) . Weka weka weka
