Rudi Garcia praises Maignan: “He won’t make Milan regret letting Donnarumma go”

As Gigio Donnarumma decided to renew his contract, which will expire at the end of this month, Milan acted quickly and secured Mike Maignan from Lille. They paid just €13m and it could turn out to be a bargain.

Taking Donnarumma’s salary demands into account, letting him go was actually the cheapest option for Milan, although it hurts to lose him for free. Either way, they now have a very good goalkeeper in Maignan.

Speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport, as cited by MilanLive, former Lille manager Rudi Garcia spoke about Maignan and his qualities. He praised the goalkeeper and made it clear that Milan won’t regret letting Donnarumma go for him.

“Maignan? He is as strong as they say, of course. If Lille won the title that was missing since I won it there, a lot of credit is his. He won’t make them regret letting Donnarumma go,” he stated.

It remains to be seen if Maignan will be able to rise to the occasion, as a lot of Milan fans are hoping. For the time being, though, he’s focused on the Euros with France and will think about the Rossoneri later.
