AC Milan are expected to part ways with Sergio Conceicao at the end of the season, following what has been a disappointing three-month tenure so far. In a recent interview, the legendary manager Arrigo Sacchi named a few of his favourites for the job.

Milan are currently eight points behind top four and tomorrow, they will be up against Lazio. A defeat in that game would make life incredibly difficult for the Rososneri, although some believe the UCL training has already left the station (including us).

In any case, with Milan now expected to hire a new manager for next season, many names have been circulating in the media. In his interview with Gazzetta dello Sport this morning, Arrigo Sacchi shared his thoughts on the matter and named the profile he would like.

“I’m thinking of Sarri or Conte. I also like Baroni from Lazio, and I’m following Fabregas’ growth with attention and curiosity. The important thing is that a coach comes who gives a clear style of play,” he stated.

It remains to be seen who will arrive to replace Conceicao. However, what’s clear is that Milan have a lot more time to identify the right man compared to last season, when Stefano Pioli’s departure wasn’t certain until the final weeks.

  1. It doesn’t matter.
As long as we don’t have a sporting director, as long as we’re being managed by Furlani, Ibrahimović and Moncada, as long as we have a poorly constructed squad which is unfit for any style it doesn’t really matter who we will bring as the new coach. I would it won’t even matter that much which new players are going to be purchased and which ones are going to be sold.

  2. Conceicao had a clear style of play. Ruben Amorim has a clear style of play.

It matters not one jolt if you don’t have a team capable of playing it.

Pioli had a clear style of play. That’s why he discarded players the club bought that didn’t fit it. Having a style isn’t a new thing, having a person and style that bonds with the playing squad is what’s needed.

Do we have any confidence in this management to find someone who blends the two and can deal with the pressures of this fanbase?

  3. If that Wall Street greaseball has any dignity left, he will swallow his pride, sack these clowns operating the club and bring in Sartori and Vincenzo. They’re doing better then us both on recruitment and on the field, with tenth of our budget.

    1. Ted the reality is even worse than that… Gerry isn’t keeping these clowns due to pride, he actually doesn’t know any better… He has no idea how to manage a football club.

      1. He’s not looking for a shot caller, that’s obvious. Has been ever since he sacked Maldini. He’s looking for another obedient stooge. We all understand Gerry is the main culprit but since he’s here to stay at least for the midterm, he might as well swallow his ego for the time being. Or face backlash, financial and image damage. Cause that’s where we’re currently heading towards.

  4. we need maldini back and waste 100 million and hope 1 player will be decent from the bunch. thats the style we want.

  5. Baroni should have been considered this past summer. Why leave Lazio after a year to go to a mid-table club that is in full rebuild mode?

  6. Sporting Director needs to be brought in NOW. Not in the summer, by then it will be too late. And it needs to be done & dusted before you start looking for a new coach.

Sarri is an interesting choice. Conte would feel like Conceicao 2.0. Fabregas feels like a Spanish DeZerbi – and coaching at Milan is a whole different beast than coaching a Como club with ZERO expectations.

    1. Not sure why people keep slamming De Zerbi. His side all play well and now he’s being linked as a possible replacement for Motta.

  7. Please respect our legend and probably the greatest defender of all time Paolo Maldini. There is only one President Silvio Berlusconi.

  8. Here’s just my thoughts:
All of those choices by Sacchi is good, but they’re not prefect.

Best choices among four are Conte, Fabregas,
Conte will provide best result in Serie A league games. He’s hard to be tamed by management, cuz he requires large and even huge amount of funds into players.
Fabregas can provide exciting games and clear style for Milan, and stability. He requires large patience from management and owner. He would make minor mistakes.

Then Sarri is following the two. He’s decent choice but stubborn from the point of view of management.
And Borani is the most conservative of all four, don’t expect ambitious things here.

With this management it gets really hard for the coach

  9. Talent is basically there. Need another dedicated demon like Walker (or 2) for defense. Quit letting 9 AC players bang way at 7 in the box. 99.99% of those shots are blocked. Opposing team just puts 2 at mid and waits for right counter. Senseless! This is not kick ball.
Need less selfish behavior and more heads up. Deliver the ball to the teammate who has the best opening. Play as a team rather than as jokesters.

  10. Terrible choices. This is why the latter part of Sacchi’s career was a disaster. The best candidates are Iraola, Xavi and Glasner. Young coaches that play exciting football on limited budgets are the way forward.
