Juan Luca Sacchi will officiate Milan’s clash against Udinese – the precedents

By Isak Möller -

Juan Luca Sacchi has been announced as the referee for AC Milan’s game against Udinese on Saturday evening. The 39-year-old, who is known for his stern but fair manners, has only officiated the Rossoneri twice before.

The referee has become quite likeable in Serie A as he doesn’t hand out yellow cards for complaints or dissent that often. Instead, he likes to talk back to the players, sometimes in a very stern manner but always keeping the conversation fair.

He has officiated two Milan games before: the 2-1 loss against Sassuolo in 2020-21 and the 3-0 win against Genoa in the 2021-22 season. He will be assisted by VAR referee Eugenio Abbattista, as confirmed by ANSA this afternoon (via MilanNews).

Milan will be without some of their stars against Udinese but the good news is that Ruben Loftus-Cheek has returned to training. He could perhaps play a few minutes, but Stefano Pioli wants to rest him ahead of the PSG game next week.
