Carlo Ancelotti’s return to AC Milan is a dream that is becoming more possible with every passing day, as his time in Madrid heads towards an end.
Before the rumours about his job at Real came to life again, there was a feeling that Ancelotti could return to Milan, possibly as early as next season. A dream more than a hypothesis, maybe; however, in recent weeks it has grown into the latter.
The loss to Arsenal has hurt his security with Los Blancos more than words can do justice, and an exit is expected now, so questions about the future come to life once again.
For now, it seems that there are two possibilities in Italy, whilst the Brazilian National Team continue their own interest, so we must see how things progress.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Arrigo Sacchi detailed the situation and why the Rossoneri should make an attempt for Carletto.
“You can’t always win. What I regret, and which is part of football, is that because of this Champions League exit, now everyone is criticising Carletto and blaming him for the elimination.
“But these people here, who are talking and have no idea what they are saying, do they know who Ancelotti is? Do they know what he has won? Do they know that he is the only coach in the world to have won five Champions Leagues?
“I consider him a true champion of the bench and not only for his successes, but for his immense human depth. In my opinion, in Madrid, they should think not once but twice or three times before sending someone like Carletto away.”
The path seems marked out. At Real, if you don’t go ahead in the Champions League, it’s a failure…
“Agreed, but let’s look at the team he faced the season with. A thousand injuries, many games played without defenders, and a centre forward bought as if he were a phenomenon, but who was not a phenomenon… This is the reality.
“I say this because I know the Real Madrid environment well and I also know the president Florentino Perez, with whom I worked when I was technical director of the club. A great manager, but too focused on strikers. Just think that I had to fight for three months to get him to buy Sergio Ramos, not just anyone, because he doesn’t even look at defenders.”
With Ancelotti free, there could be an opportunity for an Italian team. AC Milan? Roma? What do you think?
“I don’t know what Carletto will want to do. It seems to me that the Brazilian Football Federation has been after him for a while, and the possibility of playing a World Cup on the Seleçao bench is tempting. In any case, if I were a manager of AC Milan or Roma, I would give Carletto a call: it costs nothing.”
Would you see a return to AC Milan?
“Ancelotti is an asset in world football. Do you think he would have problems adjusting to a situation like Milan, which he knows very well? He would be perfect to manage a delicate phase, to make many players understand what it means to be part of a club like Milan.
“Football, for Carlo, is an open book: there are no secrets or, if there are, he knows them all. Yes, Milan should make a phone call to Ancelotti. It would be a sensational return that could only help the Rossoneri at this moment in time.”
Staying on the subject of romance, there has been talk of possible interest from Roma…
“Carletto, football-wise, has come of age at Roma. He is very attached to the city, he is loved by the fans. When I wanted him at AC Milan, he was the captain of the Giallorossi, and snatching him away from president Dino Viola was anything but easy. For him, it would be like becoming a boy again, even though he has grey hair now…”
Wouldn’t the particularly passionate environment of Rome risk putting him in difficulty?
“Put him in difficulty? Are you joking? Carletto is someone who wasn’t afraid even when he was confronted by a bear during a holiday in Canada… I’m sure that if the friends who were with him hadn’t told him it was better to get away, Carlo would have befriended the bear.
“He is a specimen of a man. He knows how to make everyone love him, and everyone respects him.”
Of course, Ancelotti’s return to Italy would be a great blow for our football.
“Let’s say it would have an important meaning: it would say that we have entered a period of growth and development. But I don’t know if the wish will come true. For now, let’s just dream about it.”

Ancelotti would not break his b*lls with this team and management. This is not the same milan environment he left. A club with a spirit sorrounded by mature proffesionals who new how to take responsiblity on the field and show respect to their team mates, club, fans and the colours.

I honestly don’t know why these pundits and journalists lack decency and respect, they are constantly undermining the good work of Sergio Concaecio, who is molding the team into a strong unit, we honestly don’t need to get a new Coach, and we just need precise buys, I saw I training video yesterday of the team at Milanello, I saw Coubis , Terraciano and Barthsesaghi really giving it their al, we need to concentrate on our young players, we don’t need to dismantle the squad, all we need is to get rid of Chukweze, Florenzi, and we bring in 2 good Italians..

Sacchi sounds like a senile old man. He should know that every past Milan coach has NEVER done well in their 2nd stint at Milan including him.
Capello even said that his worse coaching decision was returning to Milan for a second time and he regretted it.
